William James BIRD was born about 1891 in St Andrews Parish, the son of Mary FAVEL and William Charles BIRD (b-1867).
The 1911 census recorded William James (age 22) with his widowed father (Charles BIRD) in St Peters.
Marriage to Cecilia KIPLING
On Feb 12, 1919 William married Cecilia KIPLING, the daughter of Jessie PARISIEN and John KIPLING (1868-1955).
World War II
On Sept 4, 1939 Canada and Britain declared war on Germany, beginning World War II.
Sons John and Einar BIRD served overseas during the Second World War.
On Feb 25, 1943 William BIRD died in the Fort Alexander Reserve, age 51.
On May 7, 1945 Germany surrendered and the War in Europe ended; the next day, May 8, was declared VE Day.
Son John married Freda HECKERT, the daughter of Wilhelmina and Edward HECKERT (1884-1959) from Russia.
Son Einar married Helen Alice LITTLE, the daughter of Alma BOUSKILL and James LITTLE (b-1884).
Around 1948 son Charles married Virginia Anne RATT, the daughter of Mary Louise CAPLETTE and Elliot RATT (1896-1944). . On Apr 13, 1977 Cecilia (nee KIPLING) BIRD died at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 75, a lifelong resident of the Selkirk district.
Daughter Rose May was married to someone with the surname BUORS. She died in 1979 and is buried in the St Peters Cemetery.
