Charles Ronald “Bud” LAW was born Sep 6, 1905 in Hamiota, MB, son of Sarah GILLIS and Frederick LAW (1877-1911) from England.
Census 1906: Charles (born Sep 6) with parents (Sadie & Fred) in Minnedosa, MB.
Bud’s mother (Sadie) probably died on Oct 19, 1906 at Shoal Lake, MB, about a month after Bud was born. He and his sister Laura May (just a toddler) were taken in by their grandparents, Ellen (nee SMIITH) and Charles LAW 1847-1933) who were also living in Minnedosa.
On May 24, 1911 Charles’ father (Frederick LAW) died in Portage la Prairie at the age 36, and in the census that year he (age 5) and his sister Laura May (age 8) were still with their grandparents.

In 1921 Charles’ grandmother (Ellen) died. Charles (age 17, a caulker) was recorded in the household of his Uncle Charles LAW (1885-1967) at 437 McDermot Ave. in Winnipeg. ** A caulker is a person who caulks the seams of boats, etc.
Around 1923 Charles began a 35 year career with the Winnipeg Grain Exchange.
Marriage to Mabel THURSTON
On Nov 23, 1925 Charles married Mabel Aureen THURSTON in Winnipeg, eldest daughter of Mabel JACKSON and Delbert THURSTON (1877-1942).
The LAW Family moves to Selkirk
In 1943 Charles moved his family to Selkirk, Manitoba.
In 1948 eldest daughter Lorna married William James BATY at the S Andrews Church, son of Isabella and William Henry BATY. (1901-1988) from England, Chief Attendant at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre.
In 1950 eldest son Delbert married Lorna Maureen ALLEN in Selkirk, daughter of Anne and Thomas ALLEN (1885-1976) from England, bursar at the Selkirk Mental Hospital.
In 1954 son Howard married Elizabeth Mildred MATTHEWS in Winnipeg, daughter of Gertrude BRIERLEY and George MATTHEWS.
Son Ronald (Ronnie) married Grace HART, daughter of Ila and Alexander HART who was born at Norway House in 1900.
Son James (Jimmy) married Edna GOODMAN, daughter of Lizzie McLENNAN & Palmi GOODMAN (1895-1949).
On Aug 28, 1958 Charles Ronald LAW died at his home at 243 Eveline Street in Selkirk at the age of 52.
On Apr 5, 1963 Mabel Aureena (nee THURSTON) LAW died in Selkirk at the age of 60.
