My line is as such: George Johnstone (Francis Thomas) --> William Johnstone (Amelia Brown) --> Thomas Johnstone (Beatrice Mary Deacon/Deakin) --> Clara Jo...

Re: GOVERNOR THOMAS THOMAS (1765-1828)
Another point It seems that there was a familial relationship between the Christie family and the Johnstone family. It seem to me that Alexander Christie, who married an Ann Thomas and George Johnstone, who married a Frances Thomas, were brothers -in -law. The fact that my father was named Alexander...

Re: GOVERNOR THOMAS THOMAS (1765-1828)
I have one question.. one I've had for several years.
My ancestor, George Johnstone is buried at St Andrews on the Red along with his wife Frances.
Her maiden name was Thomas.
Who were her parents?

Re: GOVERNOR THOMAS THOMAS (1765-1828)
more on Peter Dahl Peter Dahl did not reach a position of leadership in the settlement, but he became far more prosperous than the average Red River settler, and he left numerous descendants. He secured land, possibly from Lord Selkirk during his visit to the settlement in 1817. In the land register...

Re: GOVERNOR THOMAS THOMAS (1765-1828)
did you see this on NAHA site about Peter Dahl? In June, 1815, the first governor of the colony, Captain Miles Macdonald, was forced to surrender himself to the Northwesters. Nearly all buildings were burned down and the settlers were dispersed. Reinforced by new arrivals from Europe, some of the co...
