Hi Gary,
Finally the mistry is solved for me on Thomas Moore who m) Elizabeth Mackay.
I have a copy of Samuel Taylor's diary and he mentions Thomas Moore's wife Elizabeth is down with the flew as well as Nancy Moore John's wife. I wondered who this Thomas was as i knew John's brother stayed around the Quebec area with HBC.

Colleen: Thomas MOORE died in 1864, leaving Elizabeth (nee McKAY) with a young family. To give them a home, it was arranged she should marry (her cousin) John R McKAY (1842-1928), son of Mary ENGLAND & John McKAY SR (1816-1922). - Gary

HI have found a bit of mis information in your posting of John Moar and Clemetine Ross who are my 4th great grandparents.
I came across a file stating that after her fathers death her brother was send back to Scotland to be educated and that she and most likely her mother were infact educated as well. Also John Moar is listed in 1827 census of Selkirks settlers just listed by name and age. He was part of the group that went to Oregon and I have located a branch of the family there.
John Moars'parents were John Moar and Elizabeth Banks and he came over with his this parents and brother on the Eddystone.
Sorry that is all I can remember but have documents am in the middle of redecorating (painting) will get it to you as soon as I can.

Welcome to the Forum! Could you give us your first name or a short nickname to address you as?
There are certainly lots of puzzles that need to be solved with regard to this family.
It was the 1827 Red River Census (not a Selkirk Settler list) in which John MOAR is listed with his family, as indicated on my Family Page for him. Most of the Selkirk Settlers arrived more than 10 years before this census was taken.
Regarding Red River Settlers to Oregon: James SINCLAIR (1810-1856) led two parties of Red River settlers to Oregon; one in 1841, the other in 1854. I have seen several lists naming these settlers but haven’t seen John MOAR. Can you provide a link to your source?
