He is very likely to be the George Sandison who had a son David born abt 1840, per 1870 census:

His age at death suggests he was born about 1810. He is very likely to be in the 1827 RRS census as the over 16 yrs of age son of a James Sandison who is shown as age 36, meaning born abt 1791, not 1780.

I believe the William who married a Jane Atkinson was a half-brother, not son, to this George. Also, George's son Alex is not born in 1846 - he married in 1858. See

I believe that HBC biographical sheet claiming ca 1815 as birth for the George who was a carpenter in 1884 in McKenzie River district and who was earlier in English River is mistaken. This man was surely not working in McKenzie River district at age 74, and there is little reason to believe that he was ever anywhere but in Manitoba. Perhaps that carpenter was this George's son.

the marriage of an Alexander Sanderson to Jane Atkinson was in 1871, not 1875, but that was not this man's son Alexander. There is much confusion on the internet between 2 different Georges - see these 2 links below, because I believe Jim Spence has it correctly (although I can find no support for the alleged 1903 DOD on the first one, and the 1824 DOB on this first link may in fact be a baptismal date - one would have to check that).

Regarding William SANDERSON: The following Scrip clearly identifies William as the son of Jane HENDERSON and George SANDERSON:

LAC Scrip: Co-signed Feb 12, 1887 by Alexander McKENZIE and Joseph HUNT for William SANDERSON; address: Cumberland; born: 1844 at St. Andrews, Manitoba; father: George SANDERSON (Métis); mother: Jane HENDERSON (Métis); married: 1859 at Stanley Mission to Janet ATKINSON; children living: Edward, Harriet, Jemima, Louisa, Jane, Bella, Myles & Alfred; children deceased: Annie & Gilbert; scrip for $160.00; claim no. 2269. “I lived in Manitoba when young and we left the Province 30 years ago to NWT. I lived at south end of Lake La Ronge on July 15, 1870 and I lived there to this day.”

Regarding Alexander SANDERSON: The following Scrip clearly identifies Alexander as the son of Jane HENDERSON and George SANDERSON:

LAC Scrip: Co-signed Aug 23, 1875 by William John JAMES & Fred BIRD for Alex of Portage, late of St Andrews; born 1846 St Andrews , son of Jane HENDERSON & George SANDERSON, both halfbreeds.

Sprague & Frye ID-4268, Table 1: Alexander SANDERSON, Métis, born 1838 in Red River. Wife: Marie HENDERSON, Métis, born 1838 in Red River

As you see, discrepancies regarding birth-years are often only vague estimates for many of these people.

Sorry, I confused myself and you. It was a Maria Henderson and Alexander Sanderson to whom I meant to refer, and I believe that Alexander (who married in 1871, not 1875) is son of Mary Whitford and her husband George, not the son of this George with wife . Also, Maria Henderson's husband Alexander is born 9 Jun 1844, whereas this George's son Alexander is born 12 Jun 1838 and married in 1858 to Mary Anderson b 1840, as shown in Jim Spence's database.

Whether name is spelled Sanderson, Sandison, Saundersons, Saunders or whatever, the Alex b 1838 in Sprague & |Frye comes from p 181 of the 1870 census, as does his wife Mary Henderson (whose father was a Thomas! not a James or a Peter, as in various databases), and they were in St Andrews at the time of the 1870 census.

if this couple married in 1871, then some kids do not share same father and mother. However, this couple may be in an 1858 marriage.
also, above Mary is either same person as in this scrip, or same man married both women, or there is much confusion in internet databases:
