Margaret Ballendine, wife of Peter Stevenson, was my Great-Grandmother. She is listed as daughter of William Ballendine in the 1870 census. Then, yes, William is my Great-Great Grandfather. Do not know who his wife was. I have the official death notice of Margaret, which states only that she was born in the N.W.T., place unknown, parents unknown. In figuring out her approximate birth date, taking in all the census, her marriage & death dates, I place her at being born approximately 1835-1840. She was married 1854, & my Grandfather, Samuel born 1855.
Hope this helps. Merrily

For Merrily regarding Peter's wife Margaret:
In the 1870 census (Archives Canada) Margaret (age 35; wife of Peter STEVENSON) identifies her father as Wm. BALLENDINE

Re: PETER STEVENSON (1830-1918)
The 1870 census shows Peter's Father as Wm. Stevenson, that we know. What I am trying to find out is where does it show that he was born around 1830 to this Wm. Stevenson & Mary Williams? Also Mary's age is shown as born around 1820. She would then have been 10 years old when this Peter was born.

Re: PETER STEVENSON (1830-1918)
In the same census record of 1870 just previously mentioned, we have Peter STEVENSON, age 40 (b-1830), his father stated as Wm. STEVENSON.
Regarding his alleged mother as Mary WILLIAMS – This cannot so far be proven and I believe it came from references on Ancestry.ca. Her birth date seems to be an estimate and my guess is that she must have been born earlier than 1820.

It was JC Briere on Ancetry.ca who has Mary WILLIAMS born 1820 in Cumberland House, daughter of Sarah Sally FIDLER and William WILLIAMS (1771-1837) and married to William STEVENSON (1807-1881).
