According to the book "From Paddles to Propellers" The History of Matheson Island: A Fishing Community by Neill & Edith von Gunten.
On page 437 - Under David Chastellaine Sr. and David Chastellaine Jr.
4. Their adopted daughter, Alice Disbrowe, was born on January 15, 1898, and is now the age of 2 years. Alice is the biological daughter of Frederick Disbrowe and his first wife. When Mrs. Disbrowe died, their four children were taken into other homes to be raised.
