As for the children of James Jr. not discussed, I thought I would add the information from “Descendants of James Curtis Bird” compiled by Ruth Silde, daughter of May Bird, granddaughter of John Thomas Bird.
These children are from the marriage with Sarah Bulls Heart (in addition to what has been previously mentioned) and according to the book....

Elizabeth Bird: bap. 1835 (age 12 when baptized)
James Bird: bap. 1834
John Bird: bap. 1835, St. John’s Winnipeg
William Bird: bap. 1835, St. John’s Winnipeg
(Miller at Edmonton)*

*This page also reproduces a newspaper article in “The Third Column” called “First Here” by “Old-timer.”
The article actually states that William Bird had a mill at Bird Creek (Mill Creek) in 1871-74 which is earlier than the article Wikipedia cites.
It would worth while tracking down this article as it has a little more detail pertaining to the Bird farm.
It also mentions that there were articles in the early issues of the “Edmonton Bulletin” mentioning how good the mill was doing at the time.

Our John Thomas BIRD (1850-1946) was the youngest son of Benny HAY and William BIRD (1803-1885). THAT William BIRD (born c1803) could not have been a child of James (Jimmy Jock) BIRD (b-c1798) because Jimmy Jock was only six years old when William was born in 1803.

Also, in his Scrip affidavit of 1885 Jimmy Jock listed all of his 11 children with Sarah BULLS HEART, none of which were named William.

I understand what you're saying. The book I'm referring to has two William Birds.
One, who is son of James Sr. and born in 1803 and one who is the son of James Jr. who was baptized in 1835.
If this is the same William, I can hardly imagine one getting baptized in their 30's.
The HBCA states a "William" in the list of Jimmy Jock's children.
My question then... who is the William Bird on Mill Creek, Edmonton of the 1870's?
I also understand that James Bird Sr. had a "cottage" at lot 70, St. Andrews on a "Mill Creek" as well.

In the HBC Archives biography for Jimmy Jock, note the comment at the bottom of the page which reads: “* There is some discrepancy regarding names, children, etc in the genealogical information found in several sources in the Search Files and in Gail Morin, Metis Families: A Genealogical Compendium.”

Many sources have perpetuated such errors and discrepancies and you may be getting confused from them. I have no idea who the William at Mill Creek was, or the James Jr. for that matter.

I already have a Page (and a related Forum Topic) for your William at this link:
WILLIAM BIRD (1803-1885)
