Gary
Around 1850 eldest daughter Elizabeth married David HALCRO at St Andrews, son of Mary SUTHERLAND and Thomas HALCROW (1781-1854).
Again, it is Mary “Southward Indian “ Halcrow (of unknown origins) and Thomas Halcrow (1781-1854).
I am very sure if she was a Sutherland, Rev. John West would of made certain to note that fact when he baptized her! Please review your findings.
Beth

Thanks for your close attention Beth.
In his Scrip of 1877 David HALCRO identifies his parents as Mary (Indian) and Thomas HALCROW.

When I reviewed my info on James CORRIGAL, I forgot about our previous discussions about his wife Mary as being a SUTHERLAND. To avoid problems on this page I have changed that statement accordingly.
In the same vein, I am removing Mary altogether from the Page for James SUTHERAND (1777-1844) and changing the reference to her on the Page for Thomas HALCROW (1781-1854) as well. I hope I got all these changes correctly.

Thanks Gary for getting this page up! I like how you added the new article, I was sure I had seen an article saying he had succumbed to his injuries but have not been able to find it again.

My only concern is about James Corrigal's mother. I have a copy of the HBC document showing wife one as Christianna and wife two as Margaret. And I'm sure I've seen Margaret listed as his mother before, but I have Peter and Christy's marriage record, and Christy and James' Baptisms records from The Cathedral Church of St John (dated June 5 1823 and signed by John West). For James' Baptism record (Reg #1, page 34, entry 269) it lists Peter and Christy as his parents. This as well seems odd to me because Christy would have been 49 and Peter 28 when James was born. Do you know anymore about this and what happened to Margaret?

I also have a photo copy of a book page with the story of Alex and Catherine Ducharme
saying that her father gave them lot #255 in St Clements as a wedding gift, can you tell me how I would go about finding out where this is located?

Keep up the great work,
Thea

Thea - You must have missed my new page for your hubby’s Great-Great Grandparents. Lot 255 location is shown there. Here’s the Link:
NEW PAGE for ALEXANDER DUCHARME (1850-1934)

Regarding Christianna & James CORRIGAL: I have similar information, but I have to shut down for tonight. Will check it out tomorrow.

A note in the HBC Archives Bio for James it mentions discrepancies in genealogical information gathered in Gail Morin’s Metis Families and it does mention an Indian named Christy as perhaps a second wife of Peter CORRIGAL Here’s the link:
MORE ABOUT PETER CORRIGAL in HBC ARCHIVES

However, in James’ Scrip affidavit filed in 1875 he clearly identifies his parents as Margaret Indian and Peter CORRIGAL, a Scot.

Hi Gary - Thank for pointing out Alex Ducharmes page, I hadn't seen that it was up. Again I just want to tell you how wonderful your website is!

Here are photos of the document copies I have for Peter, Christy, and James Corrigal. I've looked at the scrip and see that he lists Margaret as his mother, but I'm still not convinced either way!

Thanks Thea – It’s really somewhat of a moot point (irrelevant question) anyway, wouldn’t you agree? Since we don’t know anything about her origins other than that she was an Indian, it really doesn’t matter very much. Perhaps her name was Christina Margaret for example.
Is that a picture of you on the Facebook page? I have seen a John L Marineo and Thea Harrison on another Facebook page, but that Thea looks completely different

Hi, If it's a redhead in a green shirt that's me. You can find me on FB as "Thea Harrison Marineo". I just looked your page up and was surprised to see you live in Edmonton not in Selkirk. We live in Edmonton also. Too funny.

OK, I see that. But now I’m looking at a smiling John L Marineo with a brush-cut and a gray-haired lady and child (both wearing sunglasses). Who are they?
