Re: CHARLES RICHARD McKAY (1808-1873)
Hi Gary,
Thank you for setting up this page. I have a couple of questions that I hope you can help me with.
What is the source of information about Adelaide McKay, the daughter of Marguerite WALLA WALLA and Charlie McKay? Do we know what happens to Adelaide?
Another question is regarding Thomas Hardeman Smith, who married my GG Grandmother Maria McKay. Does he leave the Oregon Territory after his divorce? I loose his trail and find a Thos Hardeman Smith in southern California in the late 1880's, and if they are the same, he would have remarried and had a huge second family.
You do a LOT of work and it is appreciated.

Regarding source of information about Adelaide McKAY: Source was Stan Hulme and Serena Willis on MetisGen website. Also numerous references to her on Ancestry.ca. Nothing else found about her other than her birth info.
Regarding Thomas Hardman SMITH: After his divorce from Maria McKAY, my notes indicate that he moved to Los Angeles where he became a lawyer and married Luany WHEAT, daughter of Mary HERMANCE and Benjamin WHEAT (1817-1894).
On Jan 4, 1890 Thomas Hardeman SMITH died in Oakland, Alameda County, California, USA.
Tell us more about your Great Grandparents and your grandparents so we can see where your lineage connects to Maria McKay.

Re: CHARLES RICHARD McKAY (1808-1873)
You asked about my lineage: my Great Grandmother was Georgia Louise Plumey, daughter of Maria McKay Smith Plumey & George Leon Plumey. Georgia married
William Birchall, they had one daughter, Emma Birchall. She married George Fisher. They had two daughters, one being my Mother.

Re: CHARLES RICHARD McKAY (1808-1873)
This page says Charlie and Letitia's daughter Mary married Samuel Hayden Elliott, son of Jane Tollick and John Williams Elliott (1804-1871). Could you provide the source of this information? Mary did, indeed, marry Samuel Hayden Elliott and lived their lives in Oregon. I knew his father's name was John (reference: History of Oregon, Vol. 2, by Charles Henry Carey, 1922), and he came from Kentucky, but that is as far back as I have been able to get on the Elliott side. Thank you.
