That’s better Thomas: Now I’ve pretty well got the whole picture. Your grandfather John SINCLAIR (b-1883) who came from Ontario to Manitoba.

I can also trace your maternal great grandmother Mary Ann MURRAY to her parents, Margaret ANDERSON and David MURRAY (born 1845 in Scotland) and her grandparents Eliza & Thomas MURRAY (born 1820 in South Africa).

Welcome aboard Hannish!
I have your father’s obituary indicating three sons; Milton, Robert and Ian. Which one is you?

I have information that agrees with yours on your lineage all the way back to Thomas THOMAS b-1819 who married Harriet STEWART.

However, as I indicate in the Governor Thomas THOMAS narrative, there is a lot of confusion and disagreement regarding his son, Thomas Jr. What we really need is some kind of solid evidence or rationale so we can solve this once and for all. What kind of evidence do you have in that regard?

I am the Robert

I do not think I can absolutly prove Thomas Jr is the son of Thomas b1765,but lets see what we have. Same name Thomas Thomas, son b 1819 StJohns Red River Thomas Sr married actually 2 years after the birth 1821 St Johns Red River.

My research was done by the Metis Resource Centre Winnipeg but nothing showing how they determined Thomas Sr b 1765 as the father of TT Jr.

I have the 1870 census

Harriet Thomas fathers name David Stewart

Harriett Thomas fathers name Thomas Thomas...this would be mother and daughter

Thomas Thomas Metis (ID # 4680) esquire born 1819/1820 North West merchant of Red River married June 21, 1841 St. John Church, Red River (II)-Harriet Stewart, Metis born 1817/18 Moose Factory, daughter (I)-David Ramsey, Stewart (Stuart) b-1786 and (II)-Harreit Vincent, Metis b-1798 epouse (II)-George Gladstone Jr. (1800-1863); living Red River Settlement.

This family was associated with other high ranking HB officers like Vincent,Gladman who themselves were associated with Thomas Thomas sr I believe???

Thats about all I have.

Sons of Thomas Thomas Jr are listed as Edwin,David,John

I have scrips for Thomas group but can not read it all as they are faded out copies. My sister may have a better one so will call her and see.

What I can see is
#2300 unreadable
2301 same
2302 Charlot Thomas claim 2261 something Charles Thomas parents John Vincent and Charlotte Thomas b 25th nov 1849

2303 William Thomas claim 2259 scrip#11126??? issued on 2nd oct 1876 Parents William Thomas and Elenor Thomas b dec 1831 ( Could this be Elenor Bunn )

2304 Harriet Thomas claim #2262 scrip # 11129 160 dollars Scrip issued 2nd oct 1876 Wife of Thomas Thomas Parents David L Stewart and Harriet Stewart b 30th nov 1818
( Thomas is listed elswhere as died in 1859 so scrip issued to wife I suppose.

The scrips were issued in order and William Thomas listed wife as Elenor,I am assuming this is Elenor Bunn.

I may have to go to Metis Resource Centre and see if I can have this researched again, unless you can somehow do it

Just found this reference and this proves the posting prior to this . Thomas Thomas had a son William who married Elenor Bunn William is shown in the Script and scrip 2301 is Charles R Thomas and Parents William Thomas and Elenor Thomas. So if you compare the followijng to this it proves related children of Thomas Thomas Sr,

xi. Charlotte Vincent was born ABT 1849, and died UNKNOWN. She married Charles Richard Thomas, son of William Thomas and Eleanor Bunn. He died UNKNOWN.

I may have it a bit mixed up and hard to follow but I am Completely convinced this is proof

The Vincents here are the Vncents of Harriett Thomas to Harriet Stewart to Harriet Vincent. My grandmother Ethel Maud Grahames sister married back into this same vincent family again and they all lived in Stonewall Mb

So sorry Hannish!
I just haven’t had time to do a proper follow-up review of all that good stuff you’ve presented. I’m so busy these days researching and producing these Family Pages that I have had to set priorities for my work. Follow me on Twitter to see the latest ones (press the ‘Follow’ button at top).

If I can find the time I will do Pages for the Harriet STEWART – Thomas THOMAS Lineage.
More about that at this link: SPECIAL FAMILY PAGES
