First time here. So exciting, thanks Gary. My husband's grandmother is Mary Rogalski 1902-1999, his father is Raymond Martin (Martyniuk) 1924-1991
Some of the info I've been gathering for Josef and Anastasia is slightly different than what I read on the bio.
Bare with me as I'm new at geneology, but trying hard.

JOSEF
Immigrated to Canada.
Arrived Apr 15, 1904, about 1 year before his wife and 2 children.
vessel: Arcadia
Port of arrival: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Port of departure: Hamburg, Germany
Came with $4 cash. He was 30 years old.
Occupation: farmer
Surname: Rogalski

ANASTASIA
Immigrated from Poland.
Arrived June 1905 in Quebec at the age of 26 yrs.
Came with $2, and 2 young children.
M. Rogolski (Mary) age 3, and W. Rogolski (Walter) age 0.
NATC Bonus Allowed.

MARY ROGALSKI
Married Michael Martyniuk on Sept 24, 1922 in Selkirk Manitoba
Mary's last name on marriage registration is spelled incorrectly as ROGALSKA.
Michael's last name on same certificate is spelled 2 different ways - MARTYNIUK, MARTINIUK
*info from Manitoba Vital Statistics #1922-037308

Mary lived to be 97 years old. She lived at 714 College Ave from about 1941 to her death in 1999.

I have noticed that there is quite a change in the spelling and pronunciation of the first names of Josef, Anastasia, and their children at each census. Probably quite common with Slavic names. I'll post those later.

Very happy to learn about BURZUIK family. I could not find Anastasia's maiden name until reading on this site.
Thanks everyone!

I’m glad to see we finally got you on the Forum Nadine; sorry for the complications.

I have a few questions:
Who did Raymond MARTIN (Jim’s father) marry?
When did Michael MARTIN die?
When did Mary re-marry to Ollie JOHNSON, and when/where was he born and died, and who were his parents?

Raymond Martyniuk (went by Martin) married Marie Suzanne Bernadette Bousquet.

Michael Martyniuk was born 18 November 1893. Galicia, Ukraine/Soviet Union.

He immigrated to Canada in 1905 (age 12). He was not with his parents, think with a relative (working on this).
1915 - enlisted in WW1, fought with 44th battalion at Vimy Ridge, I think he returned from war around 1919. I think lived just south of Selkirk when he returned. He stated his occupation was "teamster" when he enlisted. Who knows, he might have worked the horses along side of his future brother-in-law, Walter Rogers?

It's a mystery as to when moved further west (Alberta, BC) leaving Mary with 4 young children. In about 1933, he was in Alberta. From about this time, he went by the name of JACK CHARLES ROGERS. This is the name he was known as for the rest of his life, including his headstone.
He died 18 Dec 1979. He is buried in Rumsey Starland County, Alberta.

I don't know how or when Ollie Johnson came into the picture. Olie is buried in Icelantic Cemetary by Selkirk Manitoba. There used to be a small metal marker on the grave. It is not there now.

Thanks Nadine – I have updated the narrative somewhat.
I have Walter ROGERS married to Christie SIMUNDSON (1903-1974), whereas you have Christina MAGNUSSON. Where did you get Christina MAGNUSSON?

Hi Gary, these are my notes on KRISTINA MAGNASSON OR SIMONDSON

Called 'Christy'
Has a daughter, Eleanor, Mrs David Stinsman of Chicago. Not sure of previous marriage. Not Walter's child.
Has a brother, Mr Oscar Simondson of Chicago.
Has 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Still trying to figure out if Kristina is a Simondson or Magnusson

born 8 July, 1906 in Selkirk MB
Died 20 Sept 1974

married WALTER ROGERS - 22 May 1926 in Winnipeg
Manitoba Vital Statistics - marriage registration # 1926-026040
* names on registration - WALTER ROGERS, CHRISTINA MAGNUSSON

According to the birth dates I have, (Walter 1905, Kristina 1906)
Walter was about 21, Kristina about 20 when they got married.

At the time I noted 2 names for KRISTINA (correctly spelled with a 'K'), I did not spend time sorting out the 2 names, just left a note to myself to figure it out later.

My information (first paragraph above) comes from Kristie's obituary. I'll dig it out. A family member still had the clipping from the newspaper.

From what I heard, Kristie was married and had a child, Eleanore. Her husband died (not confirmed), then she married Walter.

Looking at it all now, I think she was born SIMONDSON, then married MAGNUSSON, he died, then she married ROGERS. I think she used her current married name of MAGNUSSON when she married ROGERS, rather than her maiden name.
Especially looking at her obit info naming her brother OSCAR SIMUNDSON.

Gary, what do you think?

Just took a quick peek at MB Vital Statistics. I think this is Kristina's 1st marriage to MAGNUSSON.

KRISTJANA SIMONDSON m. MAGNUS JOHNSTON MAGNUSSON
26 December 1922 in Winnipeg
reg #1922-048037
(1 child born from this marriage)
Have no idea what happened to Magnus Johnston Magnusson

*added July 23rd - Kristjana's 2nd marriage

CHRISTINA MAGNUSSON m. WALTER ROGERS
22 May 1926

also, there are 2 birth registrations for KRISTJANA SIMONDSON (same birth date and birth mother)
I think maybe one was to add to first name.

KRISTJANA JONINA SIMONDSON born Selkirk 13 July 1905 to SIGVIDUR JONSDOTTIR (maiden name)
reg# 1905-006223
KRISTJANA SIMONDSON born Selkirk 13 July 1905 to SIGVIDUR JONSDOTTIR
reg# 1905-006235

neither has a registration date but perhaps the sequence of the reg#s is a clue, don't know.

I took the birth date of 8 July 1906 from the obituary.

Thanks very much Nadine: Walter ROGER’s daughter Eleanor married Stanley COLLISON and later Wilfred HARTRY. I went to Mapleton School with her sons Kenneth and Keith COLLISON. I will do another review to consider your comments and will get back to you later.

Regarding Susan BOUSQUET: Your husband’s (Jim’s) mother was Susan BOUSQUET (from her obituary). I have been researching the BOUSQUET families and would like to know more about Susan’s parents and grandparents.

Small world.
I have been researching BOUSQUET a lot. Fascinating history. I'm mezmorized as so much is documented.

Her paternal line is:
Joseph Adelard Bousquet 1898 / Marie Malvina Odile Rivard 1904
Henry Amable Jr Bousquet 1869 / Apolline (Pauline) Charron dit Ducharme 1879
Henri Louis Joseph Bousquet 1845 / Marie-Marguite Wilkie 1846
Louis Henri Bousquet 1823 / Elizabeth "Betsy" Fisher 1823
*Michael Bousquet 1777 / Marie Metis Woman 1779
*Michel Louis Bousquet 1849 / Elise St Denis 1854
*Charles Bousquet 1719 / Madeleine L'Archeveque 1731
*Jean Baptiste Bousquet 1674 / Marie L Lussier 1689
*Jean Baptiste Bousquet 1636 / Catherine Fourier 1651

I think I have most of the siblings of the above husbands and wives, along with their children. Still working on it. Adding historical documentation as I find it.
*I still have to do some tweeking. Have to find more sources to confirm*

Her maternal line is:
Bousquet - Rivard - St Germain - St Germain.
This is as far as I've gotten.

If you need anything, I'd be happy to share!
