Are you a descendant of James? If so could you provide your lineage up to him (with dates, places, etc)?
I have been thinking of doing a Family Page for him as well that you could critique.

I just started checking into my mother's line recently (after reading a book on mitochondrial DNA) and discovered that she's descended from Francoise Snake-Serpent (1787-1852) and Jean Baptiste Bruyere (1772-1841), over in St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba. Upon further investigation, apparently everyone who can trace their ancestors back to the fur trade is related. James Asham would be my (five-greats) grandfather (seven generations back), assuming that the information I've gleaned is correct.

So far I've just done a direct-line linkage through the families, ignoring siblings. I'll have to go back later and expand the tree to include all the family members. If you're curious, What I have so far can be seen at: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin ... etreesofar

I'll offer apologies in advance as it's a rather simplified effort. I suspect the whole thing will eventually get redressed to look a bit prettier and more organized. Documentation is something that I'm just catching up on now (and pictures). I'm sort of getting the impression that Genealogical research never ends and is always frustrating.

Re: a James Asham page. I'd love to read a page on him but I don't think I'd be qualified to critique.

cheers - john

I am hoping that Don Larsen and Heather are still following this Topic because I have created a New Family Page that should be of interest to them:

PRICE ISHAM aka ASHAM (1789-1833)

Please continue discussions under the new Topic indicated on that Page.

Thanks for the research credit Gary but I feel that I'm still blindly wandering through the bits and pieces with the Asham/Isham/Ashim family!! I appreciate all the time and effort you put into this website for people tracing their family histories.

I found a 3rd Jane Asham. Jane Forbes (1826-) in her Manitoba Affidavit (dated 1877) said her father was John Forbes and mother Jane Asham.

Sorry Ken – I cannot find the Affidavit you mentioned.
What I do have are Scrip records referring to children of Jane FORBES and Palm SAUNDERS (1820-1864). This Jane was apparently Jane MOWAT born 1822.

I'm going to agree that Jane Asham, country wife of Joseph Heywood, was likely the daughter of James Asham and born in 1800. I don't have any supporting material either way (excluding Sprague) but I can't see Joseph Heywood taking a 44 year old country wife. A 14 year old is far more consistent with the times.
I count 3 Jane Asham's
  1. Jane Asham B 1772 daughter of Charles Thomas Asham.
  2. Jane Asham wife of James Asham.
  3. Jane Asham b 1800 daughter of James Asham
Which is the mother of Jane Forbes born in 1826?

Ken: I further reviewed my own reference to Jane FORBES b-1826, wife of Palm SAUNDERS (1820-1864). Sprague & Frye ID-4740 refers to Palm SAUNDERS and his wife Jane MOWAT b-1822. MNC Scrip refers to Jane, widow of Palm SAUNDERS, born 1826 in MB, daughter of Jane ASHAM and John FORBES.
This is confusing in that it seems to indicated that Palm SAUNDERS married either /or Jane MOWAT (b-1822) or Jane FORBES (b-1826).
In any case, until I have to deal with the Palm SAUNDERS family it is all somewhat unimportant to me

Im looking for a male descendent from Hanna Ann Leask and Price H Isham Asham

PRICE ISHAM aka ASHAM (1789-1833+)
HANNAH LEASK (1804-1833+)
And or
c1800 GEORGE PRINCE (m. Nancy BEARDY)
Or
c1819 HENRY PRINCE (MIS-KOO-KE-NEW) "RED EAGLE" (m. Sarah BADGER)

Hi I am Don Grant I have a few Grandfathers listed on this site.

And on my mothers side her father, Louis Riel in my 1st cousin 5 times removed, also on my fathers side my great grand mother was a Grand daughter to Andrew Lambert, daughter of Alice Maud Lambert.

Also on my mothers side from her mother (Norway House) also her 3rd great Grandfather was Charles Curly head, MUSKEGO CREE BUDD https://www.redriverancestry.ca/BUDD-MUSKEGO-1765.php so my connection to this is a big thing for me.

I am the Administrator for the facebook DNA projects https://www.facebook.com/groups/43927947190/
I am also in a few projects where I analyze DNA signature and being doing it for about 12 years now, and studying Red River, Pembina, Montana Metis and families for 20+ years.

If I can get a few people who are related to the above names I can take a swab from, I can solve for sure is Price H Isham Asham of Chief Peguis.

There would not be costs involve to the testers.

Thanks
Don Grant
