Hi Gary
Please forgive me, but I find this sentence a little confusing.
"In 1845 both William’s mother (Marguerite) and his son William (age 19) died at Trois-Rivieres".
Is it suppose to be Richard's mother and his son Charles William?

Thank heaven for Beth Balsillie!
Yes, as usual you are absolutely right; another absent-minded typo which I have corrected.

From Robert Marchand: About Jane Grant (aka Jeanne Grant)

Translated from Immaculée-Conception de Trois-Rivières, QC - May 27th, 1846

"This twenty-seventh day of May eighteen-forty-six...with the agreement of the guardian Philippe Burns, esq., and the one from the parents, we priest, undersigned, have received the mutual marriage agreement of Mr Jacques Rivard-Loranger, merchant, major son of Jacques-Benoni Rivard-Loranger, carpenter, and Geneviève Geffrard from Yamachiche parish for one side, and Miss Jeanne Grant minor daughter of Richard Grant, esq. from the honorable Hudson Bay Co. and the late Mary Ann Rowan...in presence of Philippe Burns, esq., Pierre Vézina, esq. lawyer, Jean Emmanuel Dumoulin esq. notary, Thomas Loranger esq. lawyer..."

It was a very important mariage in Trois-Rivières in 1846. Please note that Jane is said daughter of Mary Ann Rowan

Query from Anita Steele Apr 15, 2014:

Hi, Gary - Just had a really quick look through your site. Boy, it is looking so good!

I have a question for you. You stated Marie Anne Breland died in 1834 at Lesser Slave Lake. I've been having a tough time finding a source to prove exactly when and where she died. A specific 'how' would also be nice. I'm wondering if you can fill me in. I would really, really appreciate it!

Thanks very much, Gary. And keep up the very good work!
Anita Steele

Hi again Anita: I did some more digging, but I’m sorry to say I haven’t found any further information regarding Marie Ann’s death. Perhaps someone else who is following this topic will have an answer.
