Hi. I just wanted to say thanks to Gary for keeping up this page.
My grandfather was George Samuel MacLeod, son of Annie Iserhoff and Fred McLeod.

Welcome to the Forum Selene!
You seem to share the same great grandparents as JenAmbro123. I’m not sure who her grandparents were, but must be a sibling of your George Samuel McLEOD.

Yes indeed. My great grandparents were Fred & Annie and my grandmother is George's big sister, Minnie. George Samuel was named after his two grandfathers (George McLeod and Sam Iserhoff).

My grandmother was born at Fort Albany in 1920. I'm afraid we'll have to wait for Selene to respond as to George's wife. Her name was Rosalind (went by Pat?) I believe but I'm sure Selene can verify.

I've been corresponding with David Iserhoff's granddaughter and she tells me that her grandmother Minnie Solomon was from Fort Albany. Apparently this was David's 2nd marriage. His first was to a gal with the last name of Coaster from Marten Falls.

I'm embarrassed to say this, but my grandmother's name was Roslyn (or Rosalyn), and yes she went by Pat, also by Rose or Rosie, but I don't remember her maiden last name! How terrible is that? Granted, her family disowned her, so we didn't talk about her family in Cornwall very much. They reconnected shortly before she died.
She passed away in Toronto in 1991, shortly after her 80th birthday. I'll have to see if my sister remembers, since my mother and uncle are both gone, now too.
George met Pat when he was stationed in Cornwall, England. He was born in 1922, and I believe he lied about his age to join up at 17. He worked in communications during the war. George died in Toronto (at Sunnybrook Hospital, iirc, where he'd been for some time due to complications of diabetes) in 2000. I remember that because it was right around the same time Pierre Trudeau died. When he was told this, Grandpa said "Don't worry, I won't steal any of his thunder."
Some great last words.

I only met Aunt Min the one time, when she visited my grandpa in Brampton. Her son (Donnie?) was there, as well.

Hi Selene,
I met your mom many many years ago and your Uncle Martin lived with us for a while in Toronto when I was a kid. He was always one of my favourite relatives. I was so sorry to hear that your mom had died (she was far too young!) and very saddened to hear that Martin left us last year. We had just reconnected and he had hoped to come to the McLeod family reunion held last summer. I was so looking forward to seeing him again. I've met Martin's children (now adults) but I don't think you and I have ever met.
I'm sure my grandmother would be delighted to see you and she can certainly share with you lots of stories about your grandfather if you're interested in delving into your family roots. She and George were very close. If you are on Facebook, feel free to join the "Our McLeod Clan" group. Tons of great history and pictures there. And lots of family.
