I have just posted and up-dated a Family Page for the forefather of the early BEAR families of St Peters. Here's the link:
WHITE BEAR (1780-1844)

Please post any comments or queries under the Forum Topic indicated on that page.

Cathy, Re your earlier information about John James Bear and his wife. I have been trying to piece the early Bear family together for sometime and I would really like to know the parents of John James Bear and his wife Mary Fleet. This might put more pieces to the puzzle of White Bear aka Wapusk aka Wapask and his extended family. I am descended from his daughter, Sally Wapisk/Wapusk who 'married' HBC Donald Sutherland. They had four children whom he took back to Scotland on retirement when the Companies amalgamated. My great grandmother is Isabella, the youngest, who emigrated to Australia in 1839, where I now live.
Any information about the early Bears from Cumberland House later settling in Swampy Village/Red River Settlement would be gratefully received. It is now my passion to be able to leave as much Bear information as possible to my children. Hope you can help, Kind regards Pam
