Faye Roberts posted Mar 6:
The youngest child of JAMES DOBIE (1842-1904) and JANE AUGUSTA LAWSON (1849-1929) was Thomas Miller Dobie, there was no Walter in his name.

Thanks Faye: I have made changes accordingly.
Where do you fit into the picture?

Thomas Miller Dobie was my maternal grandfather. He always went by the name Miller Dobie.

Thanks Faye. Also when reviewing my 1921 census information I found (and added) another daughter (Nellie) that I wasn’t aware of. Do you know anything about her?

Who did Miller DOBIE marry?

As it says in my narrative, the location for that 1921 census was in the RM of Paynton, Battleford District. More precisely: West half of Section 14-48-21-W3. It indicates that Nellie was 28 years old, born 1893 in the USA and immigrated 1906. Mother: Widow Jane Augusta DOBIE, age 72 (born 1849 in ON).

Interesting - I must check the source of that - who else was on the census with Jane - I'll bet my bottom dollar that is was Miller - not Nellie - and did it say daughter or son - or child????? Transcriptions of Census can be very unreliable. I know. Louisa

The source is the Dominion of Canada 1921 Census and you are right! The Transcriber lists the name as Nellie, but when I blew up the original handwritten document, it does in fact read Miller DOBIE, the sex as male. I have updated the narrative accordingly.

Which DOBIE was your uncle, and please explain your connection to that family?

Joseph Milton was my uncle. I am a granddaughter of James Dobie and Jane Lawson - daughter of Miller. Please do not put me onto the web. thank you. Louisa
