Cornelius Calder is my husbands gr grandfather. The picture looks just like my husbands cousin. Would it be possible to get the picture if it is not already gone? The lady that has the pic is colleen I think. She had mentioned in her post that she came across it in her grandfathers belongings. If she could get in touch with me I would greatly appreciate it.

Who was/is your husband’s grandfather?

Cornelius James Calder born in 1880 married to Maud Thom as. One of their children Amelia Myrtle was my husbands grandmother. She actually went by Myrtle. Today I came across an aboriginal honor list of all the aboriginal soldiers who were in the first world war. We know that he was in it but had not seen this honor list. This the first picture that we had ever seen. So happy to see it.

Yes, Peter was my husbands grandfather thru marriage to Amelia myrtle. Cornelius was her dad and my husbands gr grandfather.

I do not have any info on a Mervin and I am positive that Archibald and Thomas were his only boys. Also Peter was born in 1901 not 1902 as you thought. I have his death certificate in my hand. I am pretty sure that I have a copy of Cornelius' certificate as well. I have just recently returned to my genealogy after 5 years. You can not always trust what is written in records maybe this Mervin was a relative or a boarder at the time and someone misunderstood. I know that the church of latter day saints have some wrong names.
My husbands grandmother Am elia Myrtle is listed in several places as Ersule Calder, the daughter of Cornelius.

My name is Barry Durie. As a teenager, I knew Tommy Calder and his wife Ann, who lived about a mile north of Taylor Avenue. Ann was a nurse. Tom had a great sense of humor and a great laugh. They were friends of my parents. Mervin and Harold Calder, who were other brothers, were also family friends. Mervin was a Private in the P.P.C.L.I. and sustained a few bullet wounds in the war. Harold was a Corporal in the Canadian Infantry Corps. Mervin (1924-1956) and Harold (1922-1970) are resting side by side in St. Clements south end of Selkirk.
