Gary: You state that Charles Pruden (Born 1854), Arthur's son, married his half cousin Mary Pruden, daughter of J.P. Pruden (Born 1829) and Mary Smith. Where, on J.P.'s page does it ever show him married to a Mary Smith? I don't recall where I got the info, but I have Charles (1854) married to a Marie Smith (Born 1855), parents unknown. They have a family of two girls and a boy. Barry.

Thanks for the wake-up on that one too Barry (you’re keeping me busy!). I neglected to update the JOHN PRUDEN PAGE but have now done so.
Link: JOHN PETER PRUDEN (1829-1897)

I’m hoping that Beth Balsillie will see this and help me out with some of this. She’s the PRUDEN expert.

My name is Tim Scharkowski. Aim doing some family research since an uncle Herb Scharkowski passed about 8 yrs ago and my father recently. I am finding out that Christian Nelson and Caroline Pruden, my great grandparents have quite a family history story behind them. Caroline is daughter to John, his father was Arthur married to Small( David Thompson connection), Arthur's fathers name was also John ( 4 great grandparent) is the reason Edmonton is called so. Just an amazing story my family was never told.

Welcome aboard Tim! I am very familiar with all of the people you mentioned. I have lots of information, but some of the families aren’t yet on my Ancestor List.

If you’re interested, I often work with people to develop Family Pages depicting their ancestors. More about that at this link:
SPECIAL FAMILY PAGES

A note on the images accompanying Charlotte Small... I cannot attest to the painting but the photo is of Olive Oatman 1837-1903. She has a Wikipedia entry:
