Son Edward Andras Harper did not die at birth. He is on the 1870 census at 4 years of age.

My family is descended from James through Margaret Spence, and there's a family story I wonder if anyone else has heard. Dug through my old records from my 1999 excursion and found Magnus Spence born in 1764 to Nicol Spence and Margaret Harvey in Howan, Sabiston, Birsay, Orkney - Joined the HBC in 1783 serving 39 years with them before retiring in 1822.
