Re: WHITE BEAR aka TURNER (1780-1844)

Thank you for adding your part of the Bear family history. I descend from White Bear's daughter Sally who married HBC man Donald Sutherland. My g.grandmother was Isabella, the youngest of their four children. Isabella married John Weir, a Scotsman. They migrated to Australia where I live. If anyone ...

Re: WHITE BEAR aka TURNER (1780-1844)

It's been such a long time since I researched the family and I have changed computers since then, hence I've lost a lot of data. I was in touch with the Humpervilles at one stage. Give me time and I'll search what I have and get back to you. regards Pam. I live in Australia. Contact email pamlenja@b...

She married my great grandfather, John McDonald Weir. I am very keen to correspond with you and share more fami...

Re: WHITE BEAR aka TURNER (1780-1844)

Jason, I am descended from, Wapusk, White Bear, from his daughter Sally, who I believe was the daughter of an earlier wife than the one who bore Mary Bear, wife of William Tait. Garry has put a link to the Tait's descendants. Donald Sutherland (HBC) and Sally had four metis children, the youngest wa...

Re: WILLIAM COOK (1815-1885)

Thank you George. My unknown Mackay/McKay who is mother to my Donald McDonald, as far as I know would have come from near Gordonbush in Clyne, Sutherlandshire, the home area of my McKays. Therefore I don't think he is the McDonald I'm looking for but thank you for your reply, kind regards Pam

Re: WILLIAM COOK (1815-1885)

George, Do you now the parents of Philip McDonald? My Donald McDonald parents were, I think, unknown female Mackay, sister of Mad Donald McKay and Jean/Jane McKay, mother of Donald Sutherland HBC 1795-1822/24 and would have been of similar age to Donald S. i.e. born 1778 Clyne, Sutherlandshire. Mad ...

Re: DONALD SUTHERLAND (1778-1872)

Thank you Gary. I agree with you there is a lot of misinformation out there about John Macdonald Weir and I don't want to muddy the waters further. I have done exhaustive research as I am his great granddaughter. Most if not all his descendants live in Australia and most are 'known' to me. My main i...
