there is a descendent named Field living in New Westminster BC.
i do have her contact info - if you are interested. the info is slightly dated - i met her at Pat Smith's funeral.

W R was an HBC employee. they were given positions of authority to protect HBC interests. he was also proficient with the pen - not necessarily a common trait mid 1800’s.

does anyone know the name/history of Patricia's grandparents ? i never even actually knew my grandparents (P's mom and dad) on the Smith side - although we did visit them in Chilliwack when i was very young. the family story is that the Pat's mom died of a broken heart, after her husband died. aroun...
