Re: JANE KENNEDY (c1791-c1888)

It's my understanding that the Isabella Kennedy who married George Setter was the daughter of Alexander Kennedy, sister of Captain William Kennedy, and aunt of Alexander Kennedy Isbister. Elizabeth Setter, the daughter of George and Isabella, married John Norquay. The marriage date you list for Isab...

Re: JACOB CORRIGAL (1773-1844)

Son Joseph Corrigal was escorted to England aboard the Eddystone by John Davis in 1822. Davis was transporting his two daughters, Matilda and Elizabeth as well. Sources: Cross-reference the HBCA bio sheets for John Davis and Jacob Corrigal. This is confirmed in the ship list for the Eddystone. I don...

Re: JOHN THOMAS (1751-1822)

Thanks Gary! Another question: "Around 1812 daughter Ann had a relatively short union with Thomas HODGSON, son of a Cree woman & John HODGSON (1763-1826) from England. They parted in 1814 when HODGSON was discharged form HBC service. He left Moose to join his father at Lac des Chats on the ...

Re: JOHN HODGSON (1826-1898)

Albert Hodgson attended first Forest School in London (Walthamstow) and then The Nest Academy in Jedburgh in the 1860s. His Aunt Matilda Davis, owner of the Oakfield Academy for Young Ladies, paid for his education. His cousin Johnny Davis (son of George Davis & Catherine) also attended The Nest...

Re: JOHN THOMAS (1751-1822)

I am trying to figure out one of John's daughter's marriages, as outlined on JT's HBCA Bio sheet. I am tracing the Alexander Christie family and their transatlantic family network. Daughter Ann Thomas married Alexander Christie. Her sister Eleanor, according to JT's HBCA bio sheet married (second ma...

Re: CAPTAIN WILLIAM KENNEDY (1814-1890)

A few more details about family connections for the PP: William Kennedy was uncle to Alexander Kennedy Isbister, who lived most of his life in London as a writer, lawyer and advocate for the Natives of Rupert's Land. Alexander never married, and moved his mother and sister (or two sisters?) to live ...

Re: JOSEPH FINLAYSON (1830-1901)

Thanks for this page! After reading it, I realized that this Joseph Finlayson that I've been researching as part of the Davis-Hodgson family is the same Joseph Finlayson who I encountered while reading/writing my Master's thesis on the 1885 Rebellion.

Re: JOHN HODGSON (1826-1898)

Were you able to find anything additional about this John Hodgson's employment history? I assume that he was an HBC employee, given his family history, but there is no HBCA biographical sheet for him.
