Re: JAMES CURTIS BIRD (1773-1856)

On my family tree, it lists the William Jr. you're talking about as William's (1803-1885) son who lived 1826-1900, however, "Bird" and I are not descended from him, we are descended from William's (1803-1885) other son, John Thomas Bird (1850-1946). I have the Out From Hudson's Bay - James...

Re: JAMES CURTIS BIRD (1773-1856)

We are certainly closely related! John Thomas Bird was my great grandfather too so your Grandpa Francis Bird and my Grandma Laura May Bird must have been brother and sister! I'm so happy to meet you on here and I look forward to chatting more. I live in the States and just called the Metis National ...

Re: JAMES CURTIS BIRD (1773-1856)

Thank you for your reply, Bird. I would love to hear as much as you know about any of the Bird Family. William was my great, great grandfather, James Curtis my third-great grandfather.

Re: WILLIAM BIRD (1803-1885)

Hello! Does anyone know how William Bird died (1803-1885)? I just noticed the year he died coincides with the Metis 1885 battle at Batoche. Was he involved, is this how he died?

Re: JAMES CURTIS BIRD (1773-1856)

That would be wonderful Gary, thank you. For now, I'm just trying to find out if any of the Birds were "registered" as status Indians. I am pretty sure my mom was not, nor was her mom. So John Thomas Bird would be the next down the line. If there was an online registry or something like th...

Re: JAMES CURTIS BIRD (1773-1856)

It's Laura May again, I am not sure how to reply to a specific post, but I wanted to comment on Bird's Hillian's post: I am Ruth Silde's niece, she was my mom's sister. We were very close, I miss her a lot! She was the family historian and I told her daughter Donna (my sweet cousin) that I would lik...
