Re: JOHN INKSTER (1806-1864)

The info on Angus McPhail is sketchy. From the 1870 Manitoba Census, we know that Duncan McPhail's father was Angus McPhail but we don't have any supporting material, other than other family trees, to say Angus McPhail was born in 1786. The 1870 Census says Duncan McPhail was born in 1836 in Louis I...

Re: WILLIAM SUTHERLAND (1806-1879)

I found the following while searching for William Sutherland's Manitoba Affidavit. That Elizabeth Sutherland widow of James Sanidson and widow of William Sutherland has filed an application for Scrip. States that never before applied for Scrip that she and her husband were only persons of that name ...

Re: HUGH GIBSON (1780-1869)

One more piece to the puzzle that doesn't fit. I have 2 Angelique Chalifoux claiming to be children of Michel and Elizabeth. Angelique Ann Chalifoux 1800-1898 married Hugh Gibson but is referred to as Ann everywhere except, the marriage registration and Sprague and Frye. Angelique Chalifoux 1805- ma...

Re: PHILIP TURNER (1839-1919)

A minor typo in the paragraph: "In 1896 Philip married a second time to Mary Ann HOURIE, daughter of Agnes BIRD and Thomas HOURIE (b-1844). Philip was about 57 years old when this union occurred; Mary Ann was only 17 years old. They would live the rest of their lives on Section 12-48-23-Wpm (Fo...

Re: DONALD McDONALD (1863-1948)

This excellent work. I love the detail you provide. Saskatchewan Birth records show that Donald McDonald and Margaret Turner had a son John Philip McDonald born 24 Jan 1892 and Died 27 or 29 Feb 1892. The death is registered twice. Donald's Obit suggests that he served as a volunteer on the S.S Nort...

Re: HUGH GIBSON (1780-1869)

I've been looking at the Manitoba Scrip Declarations for Angelique Chalifoux. I count 4 and it brings up the possibility at Ann Chalifoux was NOT Angelique Chalifoux. I just have not had the time to sort it out. I'll keep in touch.

Re: HUGH GIBSON (1780-1869)

I've watched Hugh Gibson for sometime because they lived on the same census pages as the Inksters (on my dad's side). Two years ago, I was at a family funeral and connected with a cousin on my mom's side (very Irish white, very prime and proper farm family) and he mentioned that he was a descendent ...

Re: HUGH GIBSON (1780-1869)

Some Issues outstanding with the theory that Hugh (a) Gibson's (1780-1869) wife was Angelique Ann Charlifoux. 1) John Gibson was born when Angelique was only 15. This is quite frequent at this time, so not impossible. 2) RRS Census 1835 has the oldest Hugh Gibson with 2 males over 16, no males under...

Re: HUGH GIBSON (1780-1869)

Ok I think I found another piece that doesn't fit. 1) The RRS Census for 1827, 30, 31, 32, 33, show Hugh (a) Gibson was born in 1777 to 1781. Hugh (b) Gibson is shown as born in 1890. 2) The Burial record from 1869 for Hugh Gibson in the Kipling Collection showed that he was 88 years old. This would...

Re: HUGH GIBSON (1780-1869)

From the 1870 Manitoba Census of St Andrew, I can confirm that Ann Gibson was Angelique Chalifoux (1800-1904). She was Metis, not an Indian woman. And she was the mother of Francis Gibson (male 1834) and Elizabeth Gibson (1852 -). From the Manitoba Scripts the following claim to be children of Hugh ...
