I have just received a message from the HBC Archives. They agree there was no “Margaret” born to John Peter Pruden and will be updating the Bio sheets when the next website refresh occurs. Beth

Gary: I have not read Czar of the Prairies’ by J.G. MacGregor yet. Did he happen to list his sources of information? The book was published back in 1978 before information was posted by the Canadian government on the internet. Beth

Ok Gary, This is the Story. James and Ellen (Pruden) Balsillie had 9 children, 10 if you include the adopted son Reggie.
