Re: ALEXANDER McLEOD (1825-1885)

You have a marriage date for Alexander and Jane as around 1850. Is there any document for this or was this a fur country marriage?

Re: PHILIP TURNOR (1751-1799)

Hi Gary,

Barbara's book "Mapmaker: Philip Turnor in Rupert's Land in the Age of Enlightenment" is coming out this October (so excited)!

Question: How do Elizabeth White Bear's date of birth?

Re: JAMES ANDREW LOCKHART (1831-?)

Yes, I had added that record to my tree, along with the descendents of this couple. I believe my James Lockhart died of phthisis (tuberculosis) in 1887, in Wentworth. I have not been able to continue to track down what happened to his surviving daughters, but I do find it amusing that all the Lockha...

Re: JAMES ANDREW LOCKHART (1831-?)

I have been very successful with my research on James Andrew Lockhart -I even found a picture! Turns out his middle name is not Andrew. I don't know what it is, but according to an article he wrote about Moose, it starts with a G. I have created a tree for his family on ancestry, if you want to chec...

DNA

Has anyone had their DNA tested to see what their origins are? I had mine done, I have 44% my father's German blood, 12% my maternal grandmother's Polish blood, 29% of my DNA is British, and 14% is from Finland and Siberia, which I think suggests Inuit ancestry. I'm curious to know if anyone else ha...

Re: HERBERT GARNER (1903-1976)

Shirley married Reg Romans son of Clarence Pickrem Romans and Elva Gladys Armstrong in 1965. Clarence Pickrem Romans was the son of Mary Jane Pickrem and William Romans. My Uncle has also had difficulty researching where the Romans came from before they landed in Nova Scotia. I think they ended up w...

Re: HERBERT GARNER (1903-1976)

Herbert's mother Emma died shortly after they arrived in Canada. A.W. remarried Florence Loosemoore in Sept 1913 (although I haven't been able to figure out when she came to Canada). In July of 1915, A.W. enlisted and the kids went to stay with family in England. Herbert recalled visiting his grandf...

Re: PHILIP TURNOR (1751-1799)

Did anyone figure out how to get a copy of "Across the River"? I would very much like to find one.

I recently acquired Carolyn Tumber's book, it was a good read. Gary, do you have a copy?

Re: JAMES MORRISON (1818-1895)

Is this James Morrison the same James Morrison who married Mary Harriet McLeod (Alexander McLeod and Jane Turner's daughter- as seen on Alexander McLeod's page)? Would she not be Mary McLeod, then?
