Re: WILLIAM ROBERT SMITH (1797-1869)

Hi Gary, I read your update on William Robert Smith's page last night. It was wonderful! The inclusion of information about WR Smith's participation in the Sayer trial, as well as the information about Benjamin Paul William Smith being arrested by the the Riel supporters, and then dying on the way h...

Re: WILLIAM ROBERT SMITH (1797-1869)

Re: WILLIAM ROBERT SMITH (1797-1869)

Yes I was on the Board of AHF, but that organization no longer exists. Federal funding concluded in 2014. I now serve as one of the writing judges for the Historica Dominica Aboriginal Writing Challenge.

This is for Ken Lang, if you're still available. I have the Inkster series (Marnie from Manitoba), and I'd like more information about some of the family stories that are contained in the 2 books. Unfortunately, Marnie has passed, so I'm not sure who might have her records. Would you happen to know ...

Re: WILLIAM ROBERT SMITH (1797-1869)

Actually, Kathleen Irene Smith was born in 1903, not 1902. Sorry about that!

Re: WILLIAM ROBERT SMITH (1797-1869)

It gets rather complicated, so I'll try to make it as short as possible. Rupert Smith and Harriet Brown had several children, but their youngest daughter, Kathleen Irene, became my grandmother. Kathleen was born Nov. 11, 1902 in Winnipeg. She married Charles William Edinborough on Feb. 25, 1919 in W...

Re: JOHN JAMES SMITH (1791-1850)

Hi Gary. Actually John James Smith is apparently the cousin of William Robert Smith (1797). Both were employed by HBC, and both settled initially in Lockport/Little Britain area. The problem for the Smith descendants is that we can't find records (UK) that can tell us who John James Smith father is....
