Sincere condolences to Gary's family. He created a beautiful website here which is a tribute to his passion for genealogy and is appreciated by all those whose ancestors he wrote about. The world is a lesser place for his loss. I hope the memories you have are a comfort for you during this difficult time.

Very sad to learn about his death. He made a huge contribution to our understanding of who were are and where we came from.

Very sorry to hear about Gary passing, but glad to hear his suffering is over.
This website has been an amazing resource for me as I trace my ancestral roots to discover my Metis heritage.
In reading his biography, he was truly an interesting guy that had a very full and varied life.
The contributions he has made cannot be understated.

Hello once again, Gary,

Can you and I discuss some serious Robert Goodwin (Goodwyn) and his "Mistigoose"HBC Biog Summary Sheet errors", please?
By the way, I turned age 93 on 7 Nov.2018
Cheers,

I have just recently checked in to this site after a few years, I am so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. I am a Shand cousin, my great grandfather was Thomas Percy Shand, brother of James Hamilton Shand. The work of this site is so valuable, and I sincerely hope it continues to live on, if there is a need for someone to help admin the site I can volunteer to do so.
Peace,
Terrance

A few of us have also volunteered. Not sure how we get the admin reins though....

Don’t think so Terry. Not related to Becht or Shand.

Oh my goodness... I just read about your father, Gary's passing. My deepest sympathy and prayers for your family. Your father was such a wonderful, kind soul who truly cared for people. Even though I didn't have the chance to meet him in person, he had a big impact on me and left a lasting impression. Your father helped me put together a very valuable and complex history of my family that I never wanted our future generations to forget.

Thank you Gary for your generosity and kindness on earth.

God Bless You and your family Always .

Gary has made an immensely valuable contribution that is hard to even describe with words. The sheer amount of information and time put in to this resource is amazing, and will forever be useful to many people, including myself.
