Looking to see if anyone has any information on the Ramsay's of St Peter's? My great-grandmother was Margaret Ramsay (b. 16 SEP 1897) and her parents were Donald Ramsay and Elizabeth Chief (Sometimes went by Sinclair).

I do have some more info on this family. What in particular did you want to know? Can you give us more info about your own lineage to Donald, at least perhaps about your grandparents.

Donald Ramsay is my great-great grandfather, and my great-great grandmother was Elizabeth Chief (and/or Sinclair). His illegitimate daughter Margaret Ramsay, is my great-grandmother. Margaret Ramsay (b. 16 SEP 1897) and Arthur Settee (I believe him to be from The Pas Reserve, but i'm not sure.) gave birth to my grandfather Walter Norman Settee (b. 24 NOV 1929 in St Andrews RM and took his mother's last name of Ramsay later on in life) He passed away 26 MAR 2006. My mother Lynn Smith (B. 23 AUG 1952) is the illegitimate daughter of Walter Norman Settee and Margaret Smith (b. 24 SEP 1931 in St Peter's/RM of St Andrew's).

Basically I was wondering if you had any info on the Ramsay line. I know that they were in St Peter's before the relocations to Fisher River and Peguis Reserves.

Joel: Until I get time to dig deeper, for now I’m not sure who were the parents of Donald RAMSAY b-1871. I do know that his wife Elizabeth CHIEF b-1880 was a daughter of Jane KIPLING b-1852 and Joseph CHIEF (1858-1905) who lived in the St Peters Reserve.

Here’s info from the 1916 Census: St Andrews Parish, Cree family of Donald RAMSAY, age 45; wife Elizabeth, age 40. Children/ages: Margaret 17, Sarah 15, Esther 13, Juliet 10, Donald C 6, Alice 4, Mary 3

If I find more information I will report back later.
