Page 54 of "Red River Adventure: The Story of the Selkirk Settlers" by J W Chalmers (MacMillan 1959) mentions Donald Gunn and the 1813 settlers. The 1813 settlers spent a winter in Churchill and then in spring walked to York Factory. "On April 6, 1814 the brave little expedition set forth with guides from York Factory and a few hunters.....In the center of the column stalked the proud figure of Donald Gunn."
