Hello there,

I've been going through the records listed and found a few things I can add to fill in some blanks.

----
Louis Simard I's children
listed in the 1901 Selkirk Census:

Seymour Louis 19
Seymour Charles 13
Seymour Francis 12
Seymour Alexander 11
Seymour Catherine 6
Seymour William 1

He and his wife may have had more children. I will look into this further.

----

Simard/Seymour used interchangeably. I found this confusing at first, until some community elders I spoke with explained that people taking down records (eg, census, marriage, treaty, gov't, etc) were often english speaking and would "anglicize" the names to make them more English. lol.

---
Mary Cochrane, married to Louis II

Mary Cochrane was from Fisher River First Nation. Her father was Hugh Cochrane, but I could not find her mom's name.
She was born in 1881 and died in 1910.

Louis II and Mary were married twice, first in Sept 23, 1899 (Anglican) on the Jackhead reserve/Gordon Mission.
Then they were married on July 7, 1900 (Roman Catholic) in Dog Head.

I was told this second marriage was because of Louis's strong Catholic upbringing.

I also found a record that Louis II took H/B scrip in 1901.

---

That's it for now. I will do more digging and try add more.

My great grandfather, Alphonse was Louis II's son. My great-grandmother (his wife) was Marguerite Kent (nee Fontaine) so I will be adding more info on the Fontaine board.

Hello, I'm trying to find out more information about my grandmothers grandmother (Margaret Simard-nee-Saunders/Sandison/Sanders) With all of the possible interchangeable surnames - I'm finding it difficult. If anyone can help that would be great. What I have found so far is a marriage to Louis Seymor to Margaret Sanders in 1919 in manigotogan, which fits the timeline, my g-grandmother was born in 1930 in manigotogan. Thanks

Sorry Siggy. Haven’t been able to determine who Margaret’s parents were.
Who were your great grandparents and when/where were they born?
