Welcome Cindy! As a new visitor to this website you should go to this link to see how things work:
RED RIVER ANCESTRY HOME PAGE

To do a follow-up on your lineage, we will need to know more about your grandparents, great grandparents, etc. What were their names and when and where they were born?

Several Family Trees on Ancestry.ca indicated George Sr died in 1838 in Scotland. I have seen others that indicate England.
By the same token, even more people on Ancestry.ca indicate the 1844 death date in Canada.

Until someone comes up with solid evidence to support either death year and place, I'm afraid we can only speculate.

Personally, I haven't got a clue and would appreciate anyone with solid evidence to please come forward.
Gary
I have no new sources for information, but considering his son died 1844 for in Canada, and how often his sons records get confused with his and how much coincidence it would be to die in same year as son, I must say the evidence for a 1838 death seems very compelling!

As a side note I believe George is my 5th great grandfather from two slightly different paths.

Thanks Jackie! Okay I think that really helps take it from ambiguous to certain it wasn't 1844.

I would like to add to the post from above .

My Grandmother was Irene Evelyn Thomas born August 3, 1913 in Saskatoon, Sasketchwan, Parents were Victoria Jane Taylor and John Henry Thomas. They migrated west and settled in Matsqui/Abbotsford, British Columbia and are buried at Hazelwood Cemetery in Abbotsford.

Irene was the youngest of 8 children. 3 passed young , Kathleen approx. 3 , Clifford Campbell approx. 2, and a newborn baby .

Her surviving Siblings were: 1) Lilian Thomas ( she didn't have a middle name) 2)Hilliard Hunter Thomas, (went by Bill), 3) Lesley Lewellen Thomas (went by Les) 4) Vera Louise Thomas ( my auntie Louise)

I never had the pleasure of meeting my Great Aunt Lil as she had passed by the time I was born. I never met any of my grandmother's siblings except for my Auntie Louise . I did see my grandmother's brother Les at my grandmother's funeral.
