This excellent work. I love the detail you provide.
Saskatchewan Birth records show that Donald McDonald and Margaret Turner had a son John Philip McDonald born 24 Jan 1892 and Died 27 or 29 Feb 1892. The death is registered twice.
Donald's Obit suggests that he served as a volunteer on the S.S Northcote during the rebellion of 1885. I think the S.S Northcote left Swift Current 22 Apr 1885 and reached Clarke's Crossing 5 May 1885. It was set up as a gunship to transport Middleton's troops on 9 May 1885, secretly behind Batoche but the distraction plans failed to materialize and the Metis used a ferry cable to shear off the rigging and expose the troops and taking the paddlewheeler out of the battle. After the Battle of Batoche (9 to 15 May), SS Northcote was used to transport the injured back to Swift Current.

Thanks very much Ken. I have added your comments to the narrative and have also added a picture (painting) of the Northcote.
