hi,

In the body of the story is listed the children of Thomas Monkman raised by William and Rose Ann Monkman, their uncle and aunt
Oliver 12
Julia 9
Elizabeth 8
Jack 6
Percy 1

Census of 1921 is accurate.
Oliver
Julia
Walter (Jack)
Thomas (Tiny)
Percival (Percy) 8 mths.
NO Elizabeth

William and Rose Ann Monkman received a monthly allowance from Accountant of Thomas/Maggie Monkmans' Estate valued at $60,000.00 along with assets such as animals, dogs, tack, fishing equipment, etc. for care of these children according to documents retained by Oliver Monkman eldest son of Thomas/Maggie Monkman.

Your absolutely right Eileen: Thanks for your diligence, much appreciate your help in getting things right. There was a baby Elizabeth recorded in Census 1911, but I think she may have died in that flu epidemic as there is no later references to her.

I have made the corrections and also added your comments about Thomas’ estate.

I was still bothered about this female who was said to have been born to Thomas/Maggie Monkman. I remembered my Dad, Percy Monkman, had said he was told he had a sister named Elizabeth but that is all he knew. There are no living members of my Dads family. I phoned the oldest son of Oliver Monkman Sr. and he agreed that there was an Elizabeth who died. His father had mentioned her. Oliver Monkman Sr. was my dads oldest brother. I spent hours searching and finally traced it down.

Elizabeth Monkman born 1910 Died 1918 during flu epidemic. Census 1901 she was 9 months old.

In the Feb. 16th post, Eileen writes that Elizabeth was in the 1901 census @ 9 months old. This could not be if she was born 1910 as posted.

My error on Census date. it was 1911 NOT 1901 re: Elizabeth

I should have posted this info in Thomas and Maggie Monkmans History. My apologies

William Monkman was my grandfather. It is stated that he died May 11, 1958 in St Peters. This is partly incorrect. I clearly remember the day he died, May 11, 1958 but not at St Peters. He suffered a heart attack and died in his own home at Loon Straits. He is buried in the Loon Straits cemetery beside his wife Rose.

Thanks Glen! I have updated the narrative accordingly.
I have your lineage pretty well covered down to William. Can you tell us who were your parents and when they were born?
