William Robert Pemble SMITH was born Oct 15, 1855, probably in the Little Britain (Lockport) area, Red River; son of Elizabeth MOORE & John Lee Lewis SMITH (1820-1910). He was a grandson of half-breed Ann OMAND and Englishman William Robert SMITH (1797-1869).

I've been told (scolded) a number of times by old genealogists that there is no supporting material that shows William Robert Smith's father's middle name was "Hart". I must admit I've never found any, so I've removed it from my tree.
One genealogist also said that William Robert Smith probably added the middle name "Robert" himself, maybe to reduce confusion with another William Smith.
She also wondered why the name "Pemble" was important to William Robert Smith.

I probably got that name from your own Lang Family Tree on Ancestry.ca, so I will also remove the ‘Hart’ from my narrative. Thanks.
I often refer to your excellent genealogy in my own research. It would be nice to have at least your first name to refer to you by on my Pages.

I'm Ken Lang. I've received the geneology material from Margaret Anne Inkster (1883-1971), Jean Gibson Lang (1930-2015), James Alexander Lang (1905-1987), Stuart Neil Lang (1935-1999), and Gail Inkster (1950-). I have 20 boxes of material to still process into Ancestry.CA and then send off to the Alberta Archives. I should have just transcribed the material under the original collector's name, but I'm attempting to verify the info before I enter it.

Margaret Anne Inkster (1883-1971) seems to be the one that started this family addiction back as early as 1920. She said "The history of the Inkster Family is the history of Western Canada".

Barb (Van Haute) commented: William Robert Smith is my great-great-grandfather. His youngest son, Rupert, my great-grandfather. There are lots of stories, and a few books that refer to William Robert, but it would be nice if other members of the Smith's would be willing to respond with their information. – Barb
Questions for Barb: Questions for Barb: I understand that your great grandparents were Harriet Louisa BROWN and Rupert Pruden SMITH b-1865. Who were your grandparents?
I am doing another review of the W R SMITH Family and will be adding some new information over the next day or so.
