James Swain Sr was my Great Great Great Grandfather. His daughter Elizabeth Swain married John Mc Leod (my great great grandparents). Elizabeth and John McLeod's last child Matilda "Tilly" born on August 30, 1860, was the Mother of my Grandfather Alexander Herbert Foulds.

Hello Allan – Here are the main inks involved with your other ancestors:
ELIZABETH SWAIN and JOHN McLEOD (1793-1873)

MATILDA McLEOD and DAVID FOULDS (1857-1935)

I have your lineage fairly well researched. If you are interested in adding more Family Pages, check this out:

I have seen several similar references to James’ Indian wife, but nothing really conclusive. I’m not familiar with ‘Family Search’.

Also of interest is Mary THREE DRESSS, a Flathead woman who married Francis “Frank” ERMATINGER (1798-1858).
