Were you able to find anything additional about this John Hodgson's employment history? I assume that he was an HBC employee, given his family history, but there is no HBCA biographical sheet for him.

In the 1891 census John was enumerated as a Carpenter.

Gary: Me, again. You show John Hodgson's son Joseph Hodgson (1853) married to Elizabeth Jane Halcrow (1860). I have info showing Elizabeth was married to Joseph Hodgson (1859), son of William Hodgson (1828) who was John Hodgson's brother. Which cousin married the Halcrow girl? Also, who married the remaining cousin? Get me corrected. Regards......Barry.

Barry: I don’t have Elizabeth Jane married to the Joseph HODGSON (1859) that you mentioned, only to Joseph HODGSON (1853). Where did you get the marriage to Joseph b-1859?
The cousin relationship is explained in this narrative under the paragraph heading “John marries Catherine DAVIS” with a link to John DAVIS
Who is the ‘remaining cousin’ you mentioned?

Gary: I know that John and Catherine were cousins. That is not the cousins I meant. John Hodgson who married Catherine Davis had a brother William Hodgson married to Nancy Cook. They both had sons named Joseph Hodgson. You show John and Catherine's son Joseph married to Elizabeth Halcrow. I show William and Nancy's son Joseph married to her. I meant which Joseph cousin married the Halcrow girl, and who did the other Joseph cousin marry? Clear? Regards......Barry.

PS: This info came from my Cook cousins many years ago. Nancy Cook was my shirt tail cousin. My paternal grandmother was a Cook.

Albert Hodgson attended first Forest School in London (Walthamstow) and then The Nest Academy in Jedburgh in the 1860s. His Aunt Matilda Davis, owner of the Oakfield Academy for Young Ladies, paid for his education. His cousin Johnny Davis (son of George Davis & Catherine) also attended The Nest. Their education in England/Scotland was managed by their cousin Henry Rosser (nephew of John Davis), who Matilda and Elizabeth Davis had grown up with in England. The boys also attended school at The Nest with the grandsons of Alexander Christie, and all of the boys spend time at the home of Alexander Christie Sr in Edinburgh.

John Hodgson's three other sons (Joseph, Charles & Henry Rosser) attended St. John's College in Red River. All three went on to serve as missionaries.

The records of this are found in the Matilda Davis Fonds at the Archives of Manitoba. These records include letters written by Albert Hodgson to Matilda Davis.

I’m wondering if there is a definitive answer to which Joseph married Elizabeth Halcrow.. Joseph and Elizabeth were my Great Grandparents. Any info would be appreciated. Thank-you
