I am also related to Benjamin Bruce - his daughter Nancy Ann Bruce married Patrick Cunningham and their daughter Nancy (my 3rd great grandmother) married Angus Morrison my 3rd great grandfather.

Small world isn't it?

Yes. My father talked often of the Bruce who came from Scotland (my dad called him the black sheep of the family) and married a native woman. But this is the first direct link I have found for this. Wish I knew much more.

well I am a descendant so that makes us cousins far removed. He and Matilda (native) are my 5th great grandparents.

Hi,
First off, I really appreciate all the time and effort Gary has put into these pages!
I've learned a great deal about my own family from this great site.
My family from the Red River includes Benjamin Bruce, Patrick Cunningham, William Robert Smith, Angus and Norman Morrison families.
My great grandfather William Robert Morrison(born 1879) was likely named William Robert after his grandfather William Robert Smith and I am William Robert Morrison III (born in Fort Frances, ON in 1971)
