Great Page!
I am a little confused with his name thou. With all my research on the Harriott family, I have yet to see a document for Roderick Ross Sr. that has the name William in it.
Note: John Edward Ross married (his first cousin) Victoria Ellen Harriott and Roderick Ross Jr. (the salesman) married Arabella Higgins Nov 19, 1895 in York, Ontario.

I have done a little research on William Roderick Ross and I have to say WOW. From what I can see sometime around the 1880’s, William was sent to the St Johns College in Winnipeg. He lived with his Aunt Christine Ross (1891 census), became a lawyer and then the Honorable William Roderick Ross! There is a lot more pieces to be added to this puzzle. I am sure it is going to make a really great story.
I agree with Gary on his parentage. Back in the day, most men became ‘married’ according to the native rules. They would later marry their native spouses according to Christian law, IF there happened to be a minister visiting the post AND they could persuaded these native women to participate.

Beth, I think I got that from the following:
Archives Canada: Outside dates: 1894-1927: William Roderick ROSS applies for his half-breed Scrip as legal Representative of his father, Donald ROSS
However, thanks to you, I think I was misled by that one. In any case I am going to remove the William part of his name in my narratives to avoid confusing everyone.
