I find your wealth of knowledge of the area fascinating . I am the granddaughter of Mildred, one of the adopted daughters of ALexander and his second wife Mary. I grew up in the Lockport and have an interest in the area because of its history. I came upon your site a few years ago without realizing my families connection to Mapleton. I have since decieded to work on a family tree and found I knew very little of my ancestors from my grandmothers side . My grandmother was adopted into the Lyons family as a baby .Thanks to this site I have learned quite a bit of the Lyons family but am still searching for more information about Mary Jane Cochrane who was my grandmothers biological family and the connection to the Lyons family .

Are you the daughter of Carol MACHOWSKI and Wayne KUPCHIK? If so, who were their parents?
I’m having difficulty with the MACHOWSKI and BOBERG families. Perhaps you can help me out there.
I went to Mapleton School with some BOBERG girls (I remember Beryl and Barbara in particular).

Yes , I am the daughter of Wayne and Carol. My mom's parents are John and Mildred Machowski and my dad's parents were John and Phyllis Kupchik. Yes, if there is any information on the Boberg or Machowski family you are interested in Knowing I could let you know or find out.

Thanks Lianne – nice to get that straightened out.
I do have Mildred LYONS married to John MACHOWSKI and I also have her married to Herbert BOBERG with a daughter named Mildred BOBERG. Can you explain that and do you know who the other BOBERG daughters were?
These may be the BOBERG girls I went to Mapleton School with.

Gary
My Grandmother Mildred was first Married To Herbert Boberg and had 4 daughters: Barbara also known as Lorraine, Beryl Boberg, Diane Boberg and Mildred Mary Boberg. Her second Marriage was to John Machowski and they had two children Amelia Carol Machowski and Johnny Machowski. From the pictures of Mapleton school I see posted The class of 1951 grades 1-4 has Diane and the Grades 5 - 8 has Beryl and Lorraine (Barbara).

Hi Gary,

The photo I submitted I believe is from 1920 , in this picture my grandmother (Mildred) is the infant in the picture. I have been told by my grandfather (John Machowski) that possibly the woman on the top right is Mrs. Mary Lyons . I do not know who the other woman are that are pictured.

Thanks so much Lianne!
Of course the first thing that comes to my mind when looking at this picture is that the elderly lady holding baby Mildred is Mildred’s grandmother, Alice “Granny” LYONS. It becomes even more certain when you compare the 1913 picture of Granny LYONS with the elderly lady in your picture (very similar), plus the fact that Mildred’s adoptive sister (Alma May LYONS) is also in that picture. Check it out at this link:
