Gary, In your info about William Cook and Mary Anne Beardy, you mention "around 1861 their daughter Mary Ann married Philip McDONALD, son of Nancy FERGUSON and Donald McDONALD (1797-1876) an HBC voyageur from Scotland". I've been looking for a Donald McDonald whose mother could have been a Mackay (McKay) from Clyne, Sutherlandshire, Scotland. I tried HBC for his Service Records but they said they don't have records for all HBC men. This was one they didn't have. Do you know anything about this Donald McDonald. In Donald Mad Dog McKay's info, he menioned he introduced two of his nephews to the HBC - Donald Sutherlnad and Donald McDonald. A Donald McDonald was a fellow passenger with Donald Sutherland to Scotland on a voyage either 1822 or 1824. Any clues who this Donald McDonald was? Thank you, Pam

Thank you Gary. Sorry, the Donald McDonald I'm looking for was in the employ of the HBC and returning to Scotland on 'The Prince of Wales' in 1824, same voyage as my Donald Sutherland with two of his children. The Donald McDonald I'm looking for was a nephew of Donald 'Mad' McKay, i.e. the son of one of Mad McKay's sisters. He would have been born prior to 1800. I'll keep trying, regards Pam

George, Do you now the parents of Philip McDonald? My Donald McDonald parents were, I think, unknown female Mackay, sister of Mad Donald McKay and Jean/Jane McKay, mother of Donald Sutherland HBC 1795-1822/24 and would have been of similar age to Donald S. i.e. born 1778 Clyne, Sutherlandshire. Mad Donald McKay said he introduced his nephews Donald McDonald and my Donald Sutherland to the HBC. My Donald Sutherland 'married' Sally, a daughter of Wapusk/Wapisk/Wapask, Cumberland Cree, later called White Bear in Red River Settlement. There is a connection between the Beardys and Wapusk's Band but I'm not sure of the details. The McKay brothers went to North America en masse in the late 1700s. The McKays are well documented, i.e. John Richard McKay etc. HBC have nothing documented on my Donald McDonald but they say some documents are missing. So, parents of Philip please, if you have them in case there is a connection, Many thanks Pam

Thank you George. My unknown Mackay/McKay who is mother to my Donald McDonald, as far as I know would have come from near Gordonbush in Clyne, Sutherlandshire, the home area of my McKays. Therefore I don't think he is the McDonald I'm looking for but thank you for your reply, kind regards Pam
