Thank you to Gary for creating this page! I think it may be helpful to add "B" to William Irvine's name, as that is how the Hudson's Bay Co. identified him in order to differentiate him from another William Irvine who was also employed at HBC at the same time. William himself often added the "B" to his signature, even after he left the HBC. There is also a William Byas (?) Irvine on Ancestry.ca, but he is not my ancestor, although that's not to say there could not be a possible relationship. I only know he is another William Irvine and NOT my great-grandfather.
William's daughter, Dora Everest Irvine (b. 1890 in Fort Norman NWT; m. John Gerrond 19 Oct 1911 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; d. 1959 in Kingston, Ontario) was my grandmother. I often heard her refer to her sister Henrietta Augusta as "Rita" and her sister Marie Victoria Georgina Selena was known as "Lena". The other diminutives shown in the William Irvine Family Page are the ones I remember Dora calling her siblings.
I look forward to seeing other posts re: the Irvine family! :)

Can you tell us more about this William’s parents? I have Ann LESLIE and John IRVINE but I need to verify that and would like to know more about them. When and where were they were born?

I also found a John IRVINE (1855-1927) who married Nancy MONKMAN and two of their sons (Henry James and Charles Frederick) also lived near Halcro, SK, and were soldiers in World War I. It seems to me they must be related to our William in some fashion but I haven’t figured it out yet.

I will be adding new stuff to William’s Page in the next day or so, so keep in touch.

Hello Gary, do you have a means of sending/receiving private messages? I do not have any more information about William Irvine "B"'s parents, but an as-yet-unmet 2nd cousin who found me through Wikitree, may have some. She added their names on that site and she is willing to correspond with you. However, I'm hesitant to put her e-mail address on a public forum. I will be meeting this cousin in August when I finally fulfill a promise I made to my Mum, Olive Jacqueline Blanchard (born Gerrond, daughter of Dora Everest Irvine and John Gerrond) that I would take her ashes back to Saskatchewan (she was born in Saskatoon in 1922 and died in Cornwall, Ontario in 2012).

Can you not simply ask her to register for my Forum here to join in the discussons? I discourage people from discussing genealogy by personal emails because it defeats the purpose of my website Forum which is designed to share information with others.

I am here! Regarding William's parentage - I had conflicting information so I am trying to sort that out - have an email in to a family expert. There was a problem with people mistakenly researching William Byas Irvine, and there is misinformation floating around out there due to that error.
I will let you know when I know something.

It’s great to have you aboard Mary! I frequently refer to your research on the WikiTree and now I can officially acknowledge your excellent research and look forward to your comments under the various related Topics.
I made the correction to your name; sorry about that. Any other errors, please let me know.
