Hi
I was wondering if Madeleine Racette (1787-57) married to Francois Martin (1790-36) listed in Sprague & Frye Red River Household's 1818-70 is a daughter of Charles.
Thanks cheri

Although it certainly looks like a good possibility (time-wise), there seems to be no real evidence for Madelaine’s parents.
Why are you particularly interested in this pair?

I have Madeleine RACETTE and Francois MARTIN (1790-1836) as the parents of Marie MARTIN b-1821 (m. Baptiste DESJARLAIS). I also have a child of the same Francois MARTIN and Marguerite RACETTE: Marguerite MARTIN b-1827 who married Joseph PARISIEN. Confusing!
Are any of these in your lineage? Tell us more about your lineage down from Francois MARTIN.

From Madeleine Racette and Francois Martin is daughter Julie (1815-after 1886) married Joseph Lemire (1811-after 1886). Their son Francois married Francoise Birston. Francoise Birston is the daughter of William Birston and Madeline Gonneville.

That’s great Cheri! Now we just need to know - Who were your parents/ grandparents and where do they (you) fit into the picture?
Also, I notice you have your name as TROTCHIE. Is that your married name or your maiden name?
It looks possible to me that the surname TROTCHIE might be a variation of TROTTIER. There were several TROTTIER’s who married into the LEMIRE family.

Trotchie is my married name. I have been researching the Trottier Family for about 20 years. All of the ancestors on the trottier Family tree were at the red river. Some of them are the Pacquette, Laframboise, Beaudry, Lemire, Martin, Marchand, Racette, Birston, Gonneville, Fagnant, McGillis, Grant, Monette Bellhumer, Cayen and Vallee /Lavallee families. I have lots of info on all of these families. Most of them I have traced back to new france or the first ancestor to come to Canada . The first Trottier ancestor was Jules who came here in 1642 with his wife and children aboard the Cardinal. I am sure that you have came across some ancestors that are more elusive then others. The Martin, Pacquette, Cayen and Vallee families r the elusive ones in my tree.

Hi. My name is Colleen. Charles Racette is my 4X Great Grandfather on my mother's side of the family. I would appreciate finding out any information about Charles Racette (b.1766) and his Native wife, Josephte (Francoise)Sauteuse or Saulteaux (m.1802) ? if I have that correct? Their daughter Margaret Racette was married to James Swain Jr (m.1826), and their daughter Elizabeth Swain was married to Michael Wagner (b.Germany)(m.1861), and their daughter Matilda Wagner (b.1876) was married to William Bentley(m.1893), and their son John (Jack) Bentley(b.1902) was my grandpa. Any personal connections or history that you may have will be awesome.
I have questions about where Matilda went to school,(my mom thinks she talked about the Grey Nuns) as she was taught by the Catholics and that was her religion, and we don't know about any of her siblings or what happened to any of them except we know she talked about a sister Josie (no known last name, supposedly died in Duluth), and we met her brother Michael Wagner who lived at Swift Current and there were about 10 we think. Also I cannot find any information on Michael Wagner of Germany at all except on the 1880 Census of St. Vincent, Minnesota. Matilda and William Bentley are the parents of Doug and Max Bentley, Hockey Hall of Famers, from Delisle, Sk., who were my grandpa's younger brothers. I hope to get some answers from this awesome Red River Ancestry page. :) Thanks! Colleen.
