James Oliver Shand

Post by PLiss » Sat Nov 21, 2020 11:27 am

I am searching for any relatives of James Oliver Shand who was in Flin Flon, Manitoba in 1949. In the spring of that year he was instrumental in saving the life of one man and unsuccessfully the life of another, my uncle, in a boating accident. I only learned relatively recently that Shand and my uncle were nominated for, but never received-posthumously in my uncles case-an award from the Royal Canadian Humane Association for their efforts.

I think that the Shand family might be interested in knowing that certificate was out there waiting to be claimed.

I know that to date I’ve had over 500 people look at this post. Somebody must know something that might help me.

Yeah, that sounds like my grandpa. Umm, you might try Crystal Shand(Scotland might still be part of her name not sure) on fb, also Cindy Braun or Barb Stasiuk(not sure the spelling lol). Those are his daughters, not sure if Jim(Shand of course) his son, still has fb or not.
Good luck!

Hello. I'm Crystal Shand, daughter of James Oliver Shand. I would be very interested in learning more about obtaining my father's certificate.
Thank you for posting this enquiry
