Re: FRANCOIS MERCREDI (1832-1900)
John Peace posted Jun 15, 2017: On the page for Francois Mercredi (1832-1900) there is reference to daughter Harriet (Henriette) who married Joseph Hourston, an HBC Post Master from Ireland.
HBC records him as being from Evie, Orkney, and not Ireland, and I can confirm this, as he is in my Family Tree.
For those who may be interested, he was born 25 Sep 1849 at Ploverhall, Evie, Orkney, to parents David Hourston & Mary Harper, also from Evie. Not sure when he died but it was about 1912 in Manitoba. I have his ancestry back to William Hourston from Sandwick, Orkney, c. 1743.

The Alexander Mercredi that married Rose King Beaulieu at Fort Vermilion was the son of Abraham Mercredi and his wife Charlotte Iyinissis of Fort Chipewyan.
