JOHN EDWARD PRUDEN (1839-1904)
Re: JOHN EDWARD PRUDEN (1839-1904)
A question for Beth BALSILLIE: I have been trying to learn more about the BALSILLIE ancestry. In my notes I found an obituary I discovered while doing web-searches. It was for a William Milton “Milt” POMEROY (1914-2002) and it mentions a surviving son, Jack BALSILLIE of Delta, BC which has me puzzled because the surnames don’t match (it also mentions you and your hubby (Grant) as a grandchild. Can you give us more info regarding the lineage of Jack BALSILLIE and how he relates to James BALSILLIE, son of Ann FLETT & John BALSILLIE (1839-1906)?
Re: JOHN EDWARD PRUDEN (1839-1904)
Ok Gary,
This is the Story.
James and Ellen (Pruden) Balsillie had 9 children, 10 if you include the adopted son Reggie. Their youngest son, John Wesley (Jack) Balsillie (1912-1976), known as Steve by the family, married Gladys “Mabel” Tait (1913-1992) on Dec 14, 1933 in Winnipeg and had a son seven months later who they named John Norman (Jack) Balsillie (1934-2007). The marriage didn’t last very long and ended with Mabel “Going Home to Mother, “ taking baby Jack(ie) with her. Their divorced was final in April of 1944. Mabel (Nana) married Milt Pomeroy (Grandpa Milt) in 1947, making son John Norman (Jack) his step-son.
I joined ancestry.ca for a few months. The tree is called Balsillie Pruden Flett 2012. I am currently in contact with James Allen Rowand Balsillie’s family and really hoping to expand on that branch of the tree. The Yukon is like Alberta, there is very little information on the internet.

Thanks very much to Beth Balsillie for sending me the Photo of the John Edward PRUDEN Family which I have added to his page. Check it out: UPDATED FAMILY PAGE FOR JOHN EDWARD PRUDEN
Beth told me that many years ago her cousin Bonnie (granddaughter of Arthur J Balsilie 1892) sent this picture to Vida Brown in England who is trying to connect all the Balsillies. Vida sent it to Beth.

Hi Gary
New update for the Photo:
Older Girl Standing on Left: (Either Mary Jane or Sarah Ann) is Mary Jane Scott (29 May 1864 - 5 Mar 1903). She married John Graham Scott on Aug 15, 1888 in Winnipeg. I have a picture to confirm this.
Girl Standing Right Rear: Either Mary Jane or Sarah Ann Is Sarah Ann Monkman.
