RALPH CLEMONS (1874-1938)

Post by Louanne48 » Sun Nov 11, 2012 1:50 pm

Hello. my Grandmother's name was Esther Sinclair and she married Alfred Bruyere of Couchiching First Nation adjacent to Fort Frances, Ontario. I was told by my mother that her Grandmother's name was Elizabeth Thomas. I see a posting in here where her name was Anne Elizabeth Favel who then married William Sinclair. I seem somewhat confused as to how she (Elizabeth Thomas came to be Anne Elizabeth Favel).
I am also related to Ralph Clemons as he is my Great Grandfather along with Mary "mope" Sinclair also being my Great Grandmother.

Hi Louanne!
It’s a relief to have someone else who supports Elizabeth “Betsy” THOMAS as Mope’s mother. Bonnie & I have been debating that for some time now. I now have Family Pages for both of the William SINCLAIR Families under question and I hope this will help to end the confusion. Check them both out at these links:

ELIZABETH “BETSY” THOMAS & WILLIAM SINCLAIR (1)

ANN ELIZABETH FAVEL & WILLIAM SINCLAIR (2)

Regarding your BRUYER ancestors: I am planning to do some pages about the BRUYERE families later when I get more time (I’m extremely busy at this genealogy stuff these days – new inquiries every day). Am I correct in that your grandfather Alfred b-c1883 was the son of Maria Ann CALDER & Alexander BRUYERE b-1850?

Hello and yes you are correct that Maria Calder and Alexander Bruyere are Alfred Bruyere's parents ....sorry for taking so long to respond. I have that pic also of my Great Grandmother, Mope and her two daughters,Stella and Connie and will most definitely send them to you when I get my scanner back. Life is busy here as well. Thanks for your patience

I see Louanne's great great grandfather is RALPH CLEMONS, son of Margaret Bear and John Clemons. Margaret Bear is daughter of John Bear and Catherine Erasmus. Louanne, do you have any history on JOHN BEAR, who his parents were, where and when he was born. It is possible/likely that John Bear is the son of Wapusk/Wapask aka WHITE BEAR, who with 2 sons and a daughter went to Red River Settlement in about 1829/30. I am descended from White Bear and am seeking any old history you or anyone has about him and his family. My email is pamlenja@bigpond.net.au if you would like to correspond. Hoping you can help, Pam

Hello Miegunyah. I am sorry to say I do not have any information on him at all. I keep jumping from one set of great great grandparents to the other ones ...lol. If anything at all I got to say thank you for sharing what you have shared regarding the 'Clemons' side of my family as I didnt know too much about the ' Bears' ....*smiles* If I do happen to uncover any information regarding this, I will be more than happy to share with you. :D

Thank you Louanne. John Bear and family appear in the 1840 Census for Red River. Living in his house is David Bear and Sally Bear and their families. It is info on Sally Bear that I am chasing. If you live near Winnipeg, the old parish records would be well worth scanning as at least some of the family became Christian, not sure about John. I live in Australia so personal searching is impossible. I have gathered some Bear information but I will keep on hoping someone will be able to fill this void in the history of the early Bears. Yours in kin-ship somehow, Kind regards Pam

Gary, I didn't miss the JOHN BEAR page, thank you. I'm looking for any of his decendants who might have done some old digging and turned up more about him and his relationship to White Bear and any early family stories. I've come to the conclusion there are no documents but someone like a descendant might have got his 'baptism' or 'marriage' and maybe witnesses are mentioned. I was watching a TV programme recently about an Australian aboriginal celebrity and when you find his mother had 9 children to six different fathers, it understandable the genealogy of White Bear, who had more than one wife, and the Bear family is nearly impossible to unravel. However, 'the dog with a rag' in me is still trying. Thank you again, Pam

Hi Gary,
Regarding Esther Sinclair b .February 10th 1893 at St Peters, Manitoba - a daughter ol William Sinclair [185r6-1924] and Mary Elizabeth "Eliza" Thomas [1863-1935]. Esther married Alfred Bruyere [b.1884; died unknown], a son of Alexander "Alex' Bruyere [1854-1933] and Maria Ann Calder [1856-1915]. I have Maria Ann Calder as a daughter of James Calder [b.1826; died unknown] and Maria Gibson [b.1834; died unknown].
Esther and Alfred Bruyere are the Great-grandparents of my daughter in-law. [/color]

I am missing exact dates fo Birth and Death for the 15 children - which I have for Esther and Alfred Bruyere;
George Elmer "Eddie' Bruyere married Bella Rose Morriseau. I have 2 sons for them: Larry and George "Arnold Bruyere - Larry is the father of my daughter in-law.
I have no History for Philip, Leonard, Claude, Bruce, Stephen, Gertrude, Ronald, Ruth, Bertha, Lorraine, Sophie, Gerald and Sarah Bruyere.
Kenneth Herbert Bruyere [whom i have as the youngest child] was born March 18th 1928 - he married Annie Unknown on October 30th 1976 at International Falls in Minnesota, USA. Kenneth passed away on February 22nd 2008 at the La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Take care,
Eileen

I have most of the children of Alfred BRUYERE but no George Elmer. When was he born?
I do have an Edward Joseph BRUYERE born Mar 22, 1907 as a child of Alfred BRUYERE and his first wife, Eliza LINKLATER.
