Thanks very much Meow!
Very interesting stuff! I’d love to do some follow-up on this family but I’m so busy these days; it may be a while before I can report back.

I am not familiar with the book you mentioned but I did find some other stuff by doing web-searches.

I am new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone had any more info on the Joseph Turner line. I am a direct descendant of Philip Turnor. Specifically Joseph's son Philip Turner/Jane Chisholm Boland line.

My Lineage is:

1.PhilipTurner/Cree Woman

2. Joseph Turnor/Emma Good

3. Philip Turner/Jane Chisholm Boland

4. Joseph Alexander Turner/Jane Whitford

5. Philip Richard Turner/Mary Margaret Coutts

6. Reginald Robert Turner/Phyllis Thelma Spallin

7. Glenda Dawn Turner/Ian Miller

8. Misty Dawn Turner (Myself)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Misty

Welcome to the Forum Misty:
I have information on your lineage down to your grandparents, Phyllis Thelma SPALLIN and Reginald Robert TURNER (1904-1975) from Fort Saskatchewan – St Albert. However, I’m so busy on other priorities these days, it will probably be quite some time before I can work on that lineage. More about that at this link: SPECIAL FAMILY PAGES

Greetings! There must have been more than one Emma Good. My 3x great grand mother Margaret Moore's 1907 Whitefish Point, Michigan death cert lists her parents as George Moore and Emma Good. Emma Good is listed with her family in the 1861 Canadian Census as Emma Moore living in Algoma, Indian, aged 45 which puts her birth at about 1816. Interestingly, Her grand daughter married the son of Elizabeth (Betsy) Turner, so I am related to both lines.

Welcome Minne!
The origins of Emma GOOD is a puzzle that lots of people would like to solve.
Tell us more about your own lineage back to George MOORE. When and where was he born?

I'm from Soo, Mich now living in Minneapolis. Great-grandmother was Agnes Roussain, the daughter of J.J. Roussain and Jane Moore Trescott. Roussains fished Batchewana Bay as early as 1849. I am sure they are related to all the other Roussains running around the Lake Superior region, but I have found no paper trail...yet.

Jane Moore's mother was Margaret Moore. Margaret is listed with her parents (Geo & Emma Moore) and siblings on the 1861 census. Margaret's death cert lists parents as George Moore and Emma Good. There is a chart in the book 'Strangers In Blood' which shows the relationship. I think it's Googleable.

On 1861 census George is 61 and Emma is 45, but take that with the usual grain of salt. If true, then Emma could have been born in 1816, but not country married in 1816 as written down (1841) by Rev. George Barnley and quoted in 'Strangers in Blood'. Perhaps the reverend misheard something said, and Emma could have looked older to him than her 25 years.

I suppose we could be dealing with a different George and Emma here, but the Roussain and Turner ties make me think not. More reasearch is needed for difinitive paper trails.

Cheers!
dan

Dan: Today I posted a New Family Page that can be used as a basis for discussing the GOOD families. Here’s the link: RICHARD GOOD (1780-1850)

Now it would be nice to have more information about your ROUSSAIN ancestors.

My name is Stanley Turner. I'm related to Philip Turnor through his son Joseph and his wife Emma. Joseph's son Philip had a son named Joseph Alexander. Joseph Alex had a son named Archibald. Archie was my great grandfather. My grandmother (Archie's daughter) Georgina daughter was Dorothy, my mother.
We know that Joseph was a good carpenter as he build some of the still standing buildings at Fort Victoria's settlement as well as the first united church (the MacDougall) in Edmonton.
Archie and Lenore had 13 living children. Dorothy was the third eldest child. Interestingly enough she married Leslie Turner. Leslie father was from Wynfarthing England.
I have this quest for my ancestry interesting. I'm an engineering, a and have worked on planning roads. My youngest son is a engineering tech, he does surveying for a firm in central Alberta. My oldest son is a math teacher. Thanks for the genes Philip Turnor.

Dear Misty.
We are related through Joseph Alexander. His son Reginald Turner (Mary Coutts) had a son named Peter. Peter's son Reginald wrote a book which has some of the family history. There is a park in fort Saskatchewan that is named Turner park. This park was named after my great grandfather Archibald. We have many relatives that still live in the Fort.

Stanley:
Regarding Reginald TURNER who married Mary COUTTS: According to my information Reginald TURNER b-1904 (Misty’s grandfather) was the son of Philip Richard TURNER (b1872) and Mary COUTTS, NOT the son of Joseph Alexander as you stated, or am I missing something?

Regarding your grandmother Georgina: Who was Georgina TURNER (b-1905) married to?
