Re: ANDREW MOAR aka MOORE (1765-1836)
Hi Gary,
I'm the local hairdresser so i worked today as well, always busy on Sat. You must have great access to the Archives, what took me 10 years you can do in 10 min.
I have Andrews will from the Public record office at the National Archives , it looks like he made provisions for all his sons,he mentions there names, as well as the son Alexander that went back to Orkney with him .The will was dated May 30 1846.
On the ships log from HBC ref.c.1/830 it reads Andrew in cabin and A.Moar son in steerage .
Andrew's son Peter was b)May 14,1819.
thanks again
Colleen

Re: ANDREW MOAR aka MOORE (1765-1836)
Thanks Colleen; very interesting, but somewhat confusing. When, where and by whom did these baptisms take place? I’m trying to determine what sort of a church mission (missionary) was in existence in the Eastmain area during that period but can’t seem to find any good information in that regard.

Re: ANDREW MOAR aka MOORE (1765-1836)
Without a date for these baptisms, that information is very puzzling but also very interesting. George GLADMAN (1765-1821) was indeed a Chief Factor at Eastmain during that period, but he certainly was not a clergyman qualified to perform baptisms. There simply weren’t any clergymen in that remote part of Rupertsland that I am aware of during that time. If these were adult baptisms, we would need to know when they were performed and by whom in order to make any sense of it.
When reviewing the HBC Archives information for GLADMAN it is interesting to note that his wife was said to be Mary MOORE [MOAR], an Indian woman from Moose Factory. Who would you suppose to have been her father?

Gonzo1956:
my mother-in-law and I are searching The Andrew Moar family tree. She is a direct descendant . Her Great Grandfather was Peter Moar, Andrew Moars Son. We know that Andrew took a Indian wife , Imokquay, but we have not been able to find a marriage cerificate or Birth Certificiates for their sons, Peter , John C, Robert , Thomas and Alexander (whom he took back to the Oarkneys ).
In one of your post you stated

I was wondering if had copies of these records or where I can locate these records to obtain copies.

Any information about the Andrew Moar family would be greatly appreciated.

Re: ANDREW MOAR aka MOORE (1765-1836)
My gg grandfather was John ,Peters brother, I have lots of info. on the family. At the Hudson Bay archives under Eastmain misc. 1810 baptized Thomas son of Andrew Moar and ieemooquay his reputed wife, at the same time he baptised John, George, James - James and George died young. At that time Robert must have been baptised as well .The year 1819 at Ruperts house son Peter was baptised . Let me know if you would like to know more.
